theyre terrible. it took me 8 minutes to check out a loving hand basket of groceries the other day because the machine lost its loving mind at the notion that somebody would want to buy a dozen donuts at 6:30 in the morning so i stood there like a pissed off old dude while a person that otherwise would have been my cashier repeatedly pawed at a hand scanner to cancel the AN ATTENDANT WILL BE WITH YOU SHORTLY klaxon

im the UI team that doesnt weight the relative popularity of sodas and hence streamline the distribution process by sizing the icons larger for more popular sodas, basic UI element concepts that should have been made possible by this, but no, if you see, its a touchscreen that is literally nothing more than a replacement for some stupid bullshit buttons. you could replace the coke freestyle display with sixteen SPST pushbutton switches from sparkfun and some stickers

what

coffee is native to east africa, I thought. I know for sure that's why it ended up so popular in the arab world—it's easy enough to cross the red sea and do some trading, so coffee ended up getting into the arab world. sufis have at least a reputation for loving stimulants—even if the realities of islamic mysticism and sufi styles in particular are way more complicated than that—and are generally credited with spreading coffee consumption over muslim arabia. the popular legend I've read is that some sufi guy smuggled a green coffee bean back home to yemen and began cultivating the plant for ~*spiritual use~* but I'd bet a nickel that the historical reality involves boring old trade for a plant and the knowledge to grow it.

anyway, just drank some coffee over here. thanks legendary sufis. thegendary sufis

quote:

A solution arrived when he began to modify an Eggs Benedict sandwich that was being marketed by Jack-in-the-Box, a West Coast chain. Experimenting with prepackaged Hollandaise, which he rejected as too runny, Peterson combined a slice of cheese with a hot egg, producing the exact consistency he had been aiming for. Since poaching eggs didn't fit into the McDonald's assembly line production process, Peterson invented a creative new cooking utensil - a cluster of six rings - that was placed on the grill to form the eggs in the shape of an English muffin.
