akadajet posted:anyone have a starbucks with one of these things? mine has it but i haven't ordered one of their fancy coffees that they make in it i've had a couple people who have lived here (ny) for a long time say that before starbucks started multiplying you could really only get crappy coffee at bodegas, cafes, and diners, no one else felt the need to offer much more unless you were at a proper restaurant. then starbucks showed up and made everyone (i'd say "some") offer better coffee anyway i say this because now starbucks has kinda become what they were originally competing against and attempting to upstage: bad coffee. not because they have worse coffee than they used to (they may, I don't really know), but because now more people are trying to surpass them, and largely have starbucks reserve is better than starbucks, and i'll happily drink it at home or from that fancy machine

i usually get the yirgacheffe, i like it i spent a couple weeks working in seattle back when the reserve stuff was really new and i looked forward to a cup of that every morning

buy enough fresh roasted beans for few days at a time, grind just before brewing i had dinner at a guy's house and he shows off this fancy coffee maker with temp control and special nozzles and poo poo, then pulls out a container with ground coffee i said it was good coffee but it tasted like fuckin mcdonalds
