He's mentioned that early on in season 2ish he realized how everyone loved to hate Jonah and clown on his face/mannerisms/physicality. He's done a good job separating himself from the Jonad as a result.

The guy himself, Tim Simons, is kind of a goofy awkward nice dude. Jonah's his total polar opposite.
