I feel like you could do an interesting heat map study and / or incredibly niche fetish video by having someone lie down in a tank full of lizards and seeing which parts of the body they decide to bask on.

Standard cats with both orange and black (tortoiseshell and calico/tricolor) are almost always female, due to the orange and black color genes being carried on the X chromosome, so you need two Xes to express both; male torties/calicos have XXY sex chromosomes and are pretty rare. This cat doesn't have any kind of normal bicolor/tricolor patterning, so I'd guess there's some kind of genetic chimerism going on, where he has different genotypes in different body parts? Extremely weird and cool, I'd love to know more.
