This makes me miss my birds so much. One of them was fearless and super cuddly. My brother and I modified the K'Nex roller coaster we had so he had a little perch he could ride on, and made him a little helmet out of half of a walnut shell

I think I've posted the Bobkittens (Max and Mayzie) from the zoo near my mom's house in here before..... They posted this video today, which sadly is only on facebook so I can't embed it: Bobkittens Booping a Boat I don't know why I didn't go looking for their youtube channel before today. I found these videos of when they were really little https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhzsJJRE2XE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsib5FMxT1A

They require a lot of patience. They WILL try to bite the poo poo out of your fingers at first until they've bonded and accepted you as part of their colony, especially if the breeder didn't do a good job at getting them used to handling (mine had a lovely first owner). Thankfully they're not that strong, but it stings. They also have very specific dietary requirements. Like MikeJF said, they're not guinea pigs. You can't just toss some pellets at them and call it a day. All that said, they're amazing if you're willing to put in the work and do things properly. They need a lot of stimulation and are foragers. I hide all of their treats in little treasure chests and stash them in a bin full of ping pong balls and easter eggs That's Ser Gregor Clegane, The Mountain That Glides, chilling with his prize in a hammock.

MisterBibs posted:I have to ask, did you have her before the second Mirrodin block ended with the Phyrexians winning? Because naming it after a higher up in the Machine Orthodoxy would've been awesome. Or the old school Phyrexian Slayer, or that other card that's a white Phyrexian that I can't remember. You probably mean: We only adopted her May 2016, so long after all of that. We originally wanted a black one, but the person who originally reserved Rexie bailed and the breeder liked our application so much (I was a vet tech for years, gf studies cat behavior) she let us jump the line to snag her with only a few days' warning. We had been buckling in to wait over a year. Maybe going white would work better with her aesthetic, but flavorfully it's spot on. From the cost to adopt (including a plane ticket from Los Angeles to Florida...) to how much work she is to maintain, we can say we've been sacrificing a huge number of permanents to her abilities. Lava Lamp Goddess posted:Haha, my bf also wants to name our Sphynx after a Magic card. That's awesome. Prepare for.... Which breeder are you getting him/her from?

Lava Lamp Goddess posted:http://www.beeblebroxsphynx.com/ They're super big on HCM screening all their breeding cats every year which I really respect. And they're just soooo cute. Yeah they look quite respectable, I like that they have a huge number of queens so they have a lot of diversity and don't overbreed them. We went with http://www.skeenville.com/ who is similarly rabid about HCM. As I'm writing this I'm overhearing that Rexie somehow managed to poop on her own tail and is rampaging around the living room thwapping it on things . I hope you're ready for this poo poo.

If he'd gingerly picked the spider up with a piece of paper or something and then put it outside he wouldn't have orphaned all those poor baby-bugs. BaronVonVaderham posted:loving huntsman spiders used to invade my lovely apartment where there was like a half inch gap in the front door. The second time I noticed it had this weird webby sac thing on its rear end and thought "no loving way you're leaving your eggs behind my bookcase to hatch in here". I tried being nice and carrying it outside on a broom, but it jumped off and my new kitten pounced on it and it turns out they don't just carry eggs, they carry their live young around on their abdomens....

Because I constantly talk about this thread and share pics of my favorite repeated pets, he gave this rat a very special name: Rexie is too busy staying warm to offer comment, but I'm sure she would approve. Khan is finally getting much more tolerant of the baby's demands for cuddles. Or she's also cold and Rexie is just a walking hot water bottle.
