Pretty much every Rebirth costume is a ridiculous loving improvement over the previous costume. Some are even better than the originals.

Poor Titans got smacked with the Brett Booth hammer though.

I talked about Ben Percy's Green Arrow a bit in the previous thread. He's got some good ideas, he can write a good scene, and he's really good at building tension, but it's clear as day that the dude is not from a comics writing background and his storytelling ability is super choppy. He needs a stronger editor, which he might be getting since Andy Khouri, the guy behind pretty a few of best books in DCYou, is taking over editing duties for that one.

How about that Huntress!?! Not sure who did the design, but that is probably her best look ever.

This Superman design is for the pre-reboot Superman, not the New 52 one.

It really doesn't matter. Azz' run was very well received for the most part despite a few critical missteps and managed to draw an audience of people who weren't typically into Wonder Woman comics and regardless of your feelings towards the run or the purity of his audience, driving them off by completely paving over everything he did is in no one's best interest.

Holy poo poo, DC gave Gerard Way his own imprint at DC called "Young Animal"

The first 4 books announced for it thus far are:

quote:

The first book is 'Doom Patrol,'" Way said. It'll be written by Way, and illustrated by Nick Derington. "It's really weird," Way said. It'll pay tribute not just to Grant Morrison's famed run on the series, but the history of Doom Patrol.

Also coming from Young Animal: "Shade, The Changing Girl" from writer Cecil Castellucci and artist Marley Zarcone. Cover by Becky Cloonan. "It's another alien, a woman alien, who's hiding in the body of a teenage girl that used to be a bully," Way said. "She has the Madness Vest. The Madness is kind of taking over."

Another Young Animal book: "Cave Carson Has A Cybernetic Eye." Written by Way and Jon Rivera with art by Michael Avon Oeming. Way said that the comic will deliver on its promise of indeed explaining why Cave Carson -- a sci-fi spelunker introduced by DC back in 1960 -- has a cybernetic eye.

Rounding out the lineup: "Mother Panic," written by Jody Houser, with art by Tommy Lee Edwards and John Paul Leon (covers by Edwards). "This one is set in Gotham," Way said. It'll focus on a new character. Lee pointed out that "Mother Panic" is a mature readers book.

I am actually kind of shocked at how much I hated Wonder Woman. I knew it was going to dumpster Azzarello's run, and had made peace with that, but the writing is so comically overwrought hitting the same beat of LIES and FINDING THE TRUTH in the most purple over-narrated fashion imaginable. If this is what I'm forced to endure for the sake of bringing back the "purity" of proper Wonder Woman runs, than gently caress this.

DC Universe Rebirth sold around 235,000 copies.
Batman #1 back in 2011 sold 188,000 copies.

What a loving shame that people immediately dismissed the Flintstones book as some kind of mockery on the same level as a porn parody, because the amount of love and care that appears to have gone into this book is a cut above what I'd expect from any of the publishers right now. There were a more than a few really good New 52 books, even at launch. I will maintain this until my dying breath.

However, at the time and especially in hindsight, a lot of the aesthetic choices and the confused and mounting desperation that was apparent to everyone successfully managed to to keep everyone at arm's length even when the books were good. This was not helped by the fact that for every good book there was a book that was especially dire.
