Lol just accidentally hit f11 on my laptop while using chrome. This proceeded to cause X to hang so I had to log into another virtual console to kill and restart Xorg.

Ubuntu installed rather nicely on a old laptop, after 6 tries. Also had to make sure it's the right build for a laptop and not a tablet. Almost 6 years ago; fucker still works. I like their app store, "Synaptic Package Manager." It's fun to say in a Sylvester the Cat voice. Might do it again with a somewhat better machine to hook up to the tv. I reason it'll render video better since it uses less resources and no I don't "game."

Samuel L. ACKSYN posted:installing a program on Mac OS X: That might have been true a bit over a decade ago, but sure as hell isn't nowadays. Are you a reverse time-traveler? One of the things that I really appreciate about running Linux as a desktop OS is that it takes care of all the updates across the whole system. Don't have to go through and piecemeal update Firefox and Chrome and VLC and so on, then update Flash, then this and that. Package managers make life easy.

A sleek and very customizable experience if you're not above editing configuration files and RTFM, frustration and a death wish otherwise. If you just wanna use a bunch of bloatware and a desktop environment that's trying very hard to be windows (just with worse compatibility) it's best to look elsewhere.
