gay picnic defence posted:It's really strange because traditionally hasn't the Federal government been trying to take responsibilities away from the states? It's like he's just throwing things in the too hard basket. "Can't get the right and the hard right in the party to agree on something? Throw it to the states. Unpopular policy decision needs to be made? Make the states do it". It's pretty much a political move to make Turnbull look good. He would cut federal income tax and sit back and be like hehe mission accomplished over to you states. He's a fraud with no good ideas basically.

Negligent posted:Coalition will be comfortably reelected. I know you have a gimmick and the thread is pretty anti shorten anyways but the alp has done a ludicrously good job to be where they are. It's not that they've pulled the polls close. That can be explained by liberal incompetence. Labor are actually dominating the economic conversation. Morrison in particular has changed his tune quite significantly in a matter of months.

Labor arent being a small target on the economy though. For an opposition party they are being a very big target. They made that clear by going after negative gearing. Bowen is setting the economic agenda right now and morrison is reacting. For all the coalition bluster about morrison being the next big thing hes struggling to see off a man with a funny beard. Labor were awful in the first year or so of opposition and they still have many policies i find personally distasteful but they are performing extremely well over the last year. Especially at framing the debate. They have seen off one prime minister in record speed and have pulled an extremely popular moderate to 50/50 polling with bill shorten.

Obviously labor has been bad on the economy in the past but they have pitched some good things. Im not going to vote for them mind but hey im happy with them dominating the economic talk. Even when rudd won in 07 they were like we are just as neo liberal as howard dont worry guys. Now that was a small target opposition
