Ace Attorney, known in Japan as Gyakuten Saiban: Sono "Shinjitsu," Igiari! is the highly anticipated anime adaptation of the first two games in the Capcom game series of the same name. The series follows rookie defense attorney Phoenix Wright as he investigates his way through a series of complex murder cases. The series is beloved for both its irreverent humor and clever localization and fans have been clamoring for this since the series started. Likes: Cindy, Mandy, Rachel... Dislikes: Breakups Hey buddy. Being a mystery series, the mystery is pretty drat important. For the sake of people who haven't played the games, please try not to talk about anything past what the anime has covered. Speculation is fine, but I'll know if you're disguising spoilers as it. If you wish to talk about later-on stuff, there's an Ace Attorney thread in Games. How is it? Well, it ain't the prettiest thing around but hey! It's not bad so far, if a bit by the numbers. The real test will be when we get to the full-fledged cases, but I'm gonna be optimistic. Give it the ol' three eps. I'll probably watch the whole thing anyway. Ace Attorney streams on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7AM.

Clarste posted:I wouldn't expect too much from the mysteries. They're designed to be solvable by the player on the fly, so with a week to think things through between episodes they should be trivial. Probably, but I still wanted a bit of a spoiler policy in place for any anime-only watchers there might be.

I don't think you can get alt tracks on the mobile apps, yeah. I think the best you can do is give feedback to Crunchy about which you prefer and hope they make the English names the main track.

This current airing is only going to be the first two games. We're getting circus.

Maybe. Honestly, the anime hasn't gotten to the real meat of the games yet, so it's kinda hard to tell if it'll pull off everything. But it's okay, and the games' stories are generally pretty good, so the script should be solid.

Takumi said in a statement that the anime would be half a year, so it's 2 cour.

My money's probably on no if it's a 2 cour.

The King of Prosecutors trophy also appears in this episode, and if they were going to do 1-5, that wouldn't be here yet. Unless this is last year's trophy and he won it two years in a row, but I'm gonna say nah. Edit: Okay yeah, it's last year's award. Edit 2: By the way, this episode's name says "1st Trial," that just means it's part 1. It's all investigation this episode. Waffleman_ fucked around with this message at 15:33 on Apr 9, 2016 |

It ends just before the court begins. And they actually changed up enough about the investigation phase that I was on my toes a bit. Particularly, there's a piece of evidence in the anime that does not exist in the game.

This episode was a pretty marked improvement over the first episode and I'm feeling a lot better about the series as a whole as a result.

I wanna see what Kyle River is up to. He seems cool. The localized subs even gave a name to a guy who only appears as a name on paper. That's commitment.

I like that Edgeworth's proposal that the Thinker had its clockwork at the time of the murder doesn't just amount to "prove the police didn't tamper with this evidence for some reason." E: Haha, this is great Waffleman_ fucked around with this message at 16:12 on Apr 16, 2016 |

TheKingofSprings posted:Apparently it got a 5.2 in the ratings on the first episode. It's a kid's show and not an otaku show, so it might affect if we get T&T, but gently caress if I know what the numbers in TV ratings mean.

I'm of the mind that they're probably gonna skip over 1-5 in the TV, yeah.

Ah, I forgot about the GBA boxart. I guess it's kinda hard for the western audience to be able to tell these things because we got the games when they were a completed trilogy.

So the anime is getting a disc release and presumably a dub from the wonderful partnership of Crunchyroll and Funimation. I wonder if they're going to use the game VAs where they can or if they're going to completely use Funimation's Texas pool of VAs.
