I thought the execution of the first episode was fantastic, better than I had hoped for, but I do agree there's not much hook yet for those who aren't familiar with the manga, adapting the first chapter in two parts is a slightly odd decision. Would have been better just to make the first episode a one hour special, probably, but it doesn't matter much in the long run.
