I really don't like how some of the active items are single use. And yeah runs do feel really uneven in ways Isaac's rarely did. It's not a deal breaker but kind of annoying.

I never open chests in first floor because I always try for the secret floor and don't have issues doing no hit runs in bosses and the starter gun is usually good enough for the first two chambers. My 45 deaths with no wins will haunt your dreams. I'm going to make my own bullet hell roguelike and be good at that instead

I just wish I got more weird combinations more often. I can get to floor 5 now but man the first three are kind of a slog. Oh cool I got a water cannon and unfinished gun on Floor 1 and 2 and there's no keys, welp time to kill myself. If I ever managed to a buff like Fat Bullets with the Marine his primary weapon would be pretty drat powerful but nope never.

Any game that has a fun thing that's balanced around the player not doing said fun thing has design problems. Gungeon is definitely a good game but it sucks to feel penalized for using all of the crazy, powerful guns you can find. Also gently caress the Corsair, what a useless piece of poo poo.

No Safe Word posted:I think that's a side effect of all Unity 2D stuff, since they just do 3D with basically no 3rd axis. As someone making a game using Unity 2D, not necessarily. What they're showing there is that the dungeons actually are 3D (like actual walls and such) but the camera is pointed at them and has all depth turned off so the final result looks 2D. The sprites are tilted to match the camera angle so they look like their face-on with it. Boy is this game kinda bad in co-op. In normal rooms it's mostly manageable but the camera is garbage during boss fights.

This is also a free update right? I wouldn't be surprised if there's a Wrath of the Lamb style expansion later with more bosses and zones vs weapon content. That's generally a lot more work.

I hadn't played this since before the ammo drop fix was added and yeah builds feel way more different and fun now. I still can't tell if this game is way harder than Isaac or if I'm just complete garbage at it.

Woot after bitching about difficulty I finally beat the Dragun! I'm glad he wasn't too tough, probably easier than lost floor 3 or 4 bosses. I didn't even have that great of a loadout. I cleared most rooms with Hexagun and Machine Pistol and had Vulcan Cannon and Commando for bosses. No good passives but I used time stop once and double vision twice on bosses. I'll probably never do any of the secret poo poo
