I will not stand for this slander of Quark's best customer. <  >Oh, and Jake and Nog are Bernie and Killer Mike respectively. Jake/Bernie: obsessed with Important Things, painfully earnest, sometimes fucks up when interacting with other people because that's not where his head is and occasionally makes questionable stylistic choices  <-  ->  KM/Nog: had to work his way up from the bottom and focused on learning to play the game. He may be an unapologetic capitalist but he's still a great guy and a true friend. Another similarity is that outside of MY FANFICS  they'll both drift apart over the span of a couple years...
