People who like House of Leaves should check out Alasdair Gray, particularly Unlikely Stories, Mostly. Gray has the advantage of being an artist as well as a writer and typography nut.

So, "fides" means "faith". If you had wanted it to say, "My faith is in the Lord," "meus" is wrong because "fides" is feminine. And "Dominus" is nominative. If you had wanted it to say "The Lord is my strength," you picked the entirely wrong word with "fides".
