Flankensttein: A name given to a FPS gamer who constantly flanks to get kills.

"So I was playing COD yesterday, and some flankenstein came up from behind and shot me."
This is I think the 3rd thread I have done on this and people always ask when I am doing another one so I figured I would do it again.

Gambling, it's something I think about everyday whether it's looking at lines for upcoming games, playing poker, shooting pool, or anything else you can bet on. I have always been around it every holiday with my family there was a nickle dime poker game with the craziest card games you could think off, 123 drop, indian poker, chicago, baseball, midnight baseball and so on they were endless. When I turned 13 I was finally able to play and I knew then that I enjoyed the feeling of risking my money for some type of greater reward. My parents are very religious and strict and both worked full time jobs. I was a latch key kid and because they worked so much I had to stay with my Uncle Frank at his pool hall. I was there everyday after school and then eventually because all my friends where these older pool players I was just there every day. I didn't really play outside or play video games or do any of that stuff. I was in smoke filled pool hall shooting pool with criminals and degenerates and learning about life from these guys. Frank taught me everything I know about shooting pool. I have never beat him in pool and I have only seen him lose once in a match. He is a legend in my mind and I owe him everything for making me the man I am today. He taught me about hustling, living on the road, women, drugs, money management and just general tips to prevent me from getting killed out there. My parents have always hated my lifestyle, since I have gotten married they have warmed up a bit especially since I paid for the wedding myself thanks to a lucky roulette roll one late night at the casino. I went on the road for awhile and did great but I also didn't like the lifestyle. When I decided to stop going on the road I got a job doing repos and collections for a small car dealership. In the time I Have worked there I helped build the buisness to become a couple of car dealerships and a separate finance company. I used the money I had saved from gambling all these years and bought into half of the buisness. I then purchased some other smaller finance companies and combined them and after I did that I purchased out my partner so he could retire and now his son basically runs my company for me. I have a ton of stories in my brain but I am 39 now and while that's not that old I have lived a pretty hard lifestyle with lots of drinking and lots of drugs in my earlier years. I smoke pot on a regular basis to help the pain in my knees and I only drink scotch because it doesn't give me a hangover. My memory is not the greatest but once I get talking about this stuff and get the memories flowing I will start to remember stories. I also hope that by you guys asking questions you will help me remember some more stories that I havent told yet.

I don't shoot pool much at all anymore, I play poker probably 4 times a week and play craps once or twice a month and recently I have taken up sports booking. It took me about 2 years but I finally figured out a strategy on sportsbook and in MMA just alone I am up around 30k most in the last year. So ask whatever you want.

Great to see another thread. What's the funniest/most outrageous loss you've ever taken?

When I was 22 I was on the road with my 2 uncles Frank and Mike and we decided to stop at this biker bar in Virginia that my uncle had to been in his younger days. Don't remember the name of the bar but it was a wild one. I Remember walking in and it being very dim and smokey with a very strong stench of something dead or rotting. We walk in and it's packed and the whole place is dark except one little area in the back with a light hanging over a pool table. An old man with a beard and durag on was playing and I stepped up and asked if the table was open and he told me to grab a stick and lets shoot. I ask him if he likes to shoot for fun or money and he said money is the preference here. He knew right away I wasn't from there and he called me out on it. I smirked and said nothing and he said let start off with 20 a game. I lose the first 5 games to him and then tell him let me get a shot to win it all back. He agrees to play me one more match double or nothing. I figure now was the time to turn it on and start winning. I easily run out and he says run it again. He racks I break and run again putting me up 200. I ask him if he wants to run it again and he says yes but this time he wants to run it for 500. I tell him okay. He racks I break and miss and he almost runs out but misses on the ball before the 8. That leaves the table wide open and I win again. Now I am up 700 and feeling very cocky and my ego kicks in. I start talking a little trash to the old man. Making jokes about his age and so on and he gets a little frustrated and walks away. I Walk over to where my uncles are and start bullshitting with them and after a few minutes the old man walks back up and says he wants to shoot again. I tell him well you called me out so now you are gonna see what I can really do. Let's play for 1k. He thinks about it for a minute and he says ok but only if the loser kisses norma I tell him Ill kiss any woman in here after I win I don't give a poo poo. At this time about 6 or 7 of his friends start cheering and laughing. A little confused but I am in the zone and not thinking about that and start focusing on the break.

I get ready to break when there is quite a commotion coming from the back. I hear people laughing and girls start screaming and then like some type of magic the room just spreads and in all it's glory there was Norma. A huge loving gross pig that has one eye scared up and I swear was drooling and looked like it had a serious mental issue. I was afraid of that pig and I have no loving clue why now that I think back on it I had never seen one up close before only on tv and stuff and it just loving shook me. I didn't want to make out with a pig what loving disease would I get, would it bite me I had no loving clue. The dude got into my head and I made a terrible break and out of nowhere he ran all the balls out like a pro and the whole loving bar cheered. I walked over to frank white as a ghost almost sick to my stomach. I remember I instantly got indigestion and my stomach was burning because I was so stressed out not from losing 1k but having to follow through with this stupid pig kissing. Frank looked at me and said kid you got hustled and then asked if anyone had a camera he could buy off them because he wanted a picture of this moment. Thankfully no one did and after everyone calmed down the old man walked up to me I gave him 1k and asked how much more could I Pay to get out of it. He said there wasn't enough money in the world. I said gently caress it lets do this and walked over to the pig. I kneeled down and just as I was about to kiss a loving pig the old man stopped me and took a big bucket and put in front of the pig. Then every single person in the bar poured there opened beers into the bucket. instantly the pig just started lopping that poo poo up. I couldn't take it I was gonna puke for sure. They forced the pig to stop drinking and I leaned in and grabbed the pig by it's face and as soon as I got close enough he gave me a huge tongue bath all over my face and I puked in the bucket. Everyone went nuts as soon as I stood up the pig started eating from the beer and vomit fulled bucket and I threw up again on the floor. The last thing I remember was drinking a bottle of Jack and passing out in the back seat of my uncles car while they partied with the biker guys and the next morning I received and endless amount ball busting for that.

Tried it once and didn't like it. My good friend and previous bookie loves that stuff and won a trip to meet Jordy Nelson. I am not a knowledgeable sports guy I love my home teams and I love football but not enough to know every player. It's just not for me but I have nothing against it.

How accurate is the movie "Rounders"?

I would say maybe about 50 percent of that movie is accurate. The everyone has a nickname thing is spot on because everyone does. I very rarely call people by their real names. I went to wedding recently and it had assigned seating by name and some people were pissed because they thought they were sitting with strangers but it turned out they were sitting with their poker friends they just never knew their real names. The underground clubs in that movie were based on New York and I have never been to one of those so I am not sure how accurate but I have been to few underground poker games and usually they are just in a guys office or a vacant building or some place like that. I started playing in the back of a cigar store and I play a game right now that runs in the kitchen of a lebanese restaurant. I am one of the few who speak really good english there at that game but it's a goldmine for me because those guys have no clue how to play poker.. The play and personality of the different types of people at poker games was real good in my opinion.

Do you believe you can affect the probability of a given outcome occurring on a craps roll?

I have no clue what this means. Craps is not a huge part of my gambling but when I do I only bet on the inside number 5,6,8,9. I bet those during a roll and adjust accordingly and I am a loser overall at the craps table. Looking at my spreadsheet craps last year in 2015 was about 5 percent of my gambling. Craps is more of a social thing with my gambling. I only play it if a roller is hot or I am there with a few friends.

Was asking about dice setting. Craps is my game; like you, I find it to be a fun social thing.

There are a fair number of shooters who think they can "set the dice" in their hand before a throw and increase their odds of hitting a particular number. It slows the game down and is really obnoxious. Perhaps not coincidentally, these are the same people who claim that they're overall winners during their lifetime playing craps.

Looking forward to the rest of the thread.

I never throw in craps I only bet it's just not for me. I bet those inside numbers exclusively and I learned that strategy from this old guy Bruce who would take 100 bucks to craps table and play till 4 in the morning and usually make a small profit.

Great that you're doing another thread, read the last one from start to finish. Do you only play craps/poker or are there any other casino games that you find you can regularly turn a profit playing? I recall a lot of more obscure card games being discussed in the A/T thread about casino dealing. I'm guessing apart from poker most should have a decent house advantage to prevent this but I'm not very familiar with most of them.

I play roulette and usually only with a nice hit from the poker table or sports booking. If I was a billionaire I would play roulette all the time and lose my rear end off and not worry about it. I am a loser on roulette and will most likely always be one but that will never stop me from playing it when I have a pocketful of money from the poker table. It's a good thing I only play it a few times a month at most 4 or 5. I don't play slots or anything else in the casino I hate blackjack and all those other table games.

How strong of a poker player are you, and what stakes do you play? I'm a cheap rear end breakeven 1/2 scrub so I'm curious about your experiences. It's a funny thing to have everybody recognize you at a poker room.

I prefer 2/5 pot limit omaha or 5/10 NL but those games aren't very popular at the casino and if one gets started I will usually get a call from the poker room telling me a there is enough interest. Me and a couple of other guys are forever on the waiting list for those games. When I am playing at the casino I usually play 2/5 NL or 1/2 PLO depending on what seats are open. I play twice a month at this Lebanese game that is run in the basement of their restaurant. They play 1/3 with no max buy in and most guys buy in for 1k. That game is fun especially because they all yell and scream and I have no clue what they are saying I just usually sit back and wait for the action to flow. They can't help themselves they play any ace and it's easy to trap them.

My previous bookie who also happens to be one of my closest friends runs a 1/1 game that has a max buy in of 300 or half of the largest stack but after about 2 hours it plays like a 2/5 NL. This game is usually run every other Friday and you gotta be vouched for a few times over before being allowed to play. Same 50 or so guys with only about 20 or so showing up each week. 2 tables of crazy action by some of the craziest degenerates I know. Retired CEO's, a day trader who had nervous breakdown and is one step from suicide on a daily basis, a divorce lawyer who does too much coke, an alcoholic who has been inside the casino jail a few times because of his refusal to take a taxi home he is usually the star of the game after his first case of beer, younger kids who want to run with us big gamblers they never make it past 2 or 3 hours with out blowing their load at the table and we love having them around when they do that the list goes on about the people I play poker with at that game. Radio show hosts, previous cavs players have played there, casino employees love that game because they aren't allowed to play anywhere else so because it's so private and hard to get into I see the dealers at this games a lot. They also deal off their bookie balances at this game so we always have awesome dealers who love to bet on sports.

As far as how strong of a poker player I am it's a tough one because this my opinion of myself and I Have an ego. I feel like if I am comfortable with the stakes then I am not afraid to play any poker game anywhere anytime. I am great at reading people, my wife hates it because I base my opinions on my reads and sometimes I just hate a guy because he feels sleazy to me. I have worked in the collections and skip tracing industry for a long time. I can spot liars and fakes from a mile away and that goes along way at the poker table. Not just in a hand but in overall I can figure out what type of player I am up against quickly and know who to avoid and who I can exploit. I know when I walk into a room and I see people that I play poker with they aren't happy I am there. I get respect at the poker table and a lot of people know that and see it so I take pride in it.

So glad to see this thread is back! The pig story was amazing.

Have you played in any home / underground games where you found out the house or one of the players was cheating? Were there any consequences?

I have been to a few underground games where I felt like it wasn't on the up and up but I never felt cheated. Just felt like if I had a big winning session I might get robbed leaving the place. The thing is with the underground games is I have to be vouched most of the time and the person who would vouch for me would be someone I absolutely trust. the group of guys I know from poker knows everyone else so if someone was sending players to a game that was rigged they would be blacklisted and most likely bad things would happen to that person depending on who they screwed over.

About 7 or 8 years ago I was at a personal friends home game were something crazy happened.

I know it's offensive to say this word anymore but I don't know how to post this so I will abbreviate it to lilf for sakes of the story.

Lil fag is a guy I have known for a long time when he was in college he use to come to the cigar store and always lose his grant money in our games. He got his name because he has a short man syndrome and he just has this all around machismo about him but really short and very sensitive about being short so naturally we always made short jokes. He got really upset because someone called him a fag then it just became customary to call him lilf. He hated it but he wanted always wanted to gamble and wasn't bad at it. It was just very easy to get him on tilt and make bad decisions. So after he graduates med school he decides he is going to have a game. He invites some of us old timers and he has a really good game. I would go there and the action would be great lots of loose play and people who did not care about money. I use to bring 5k at the game because I wanted to stay all night and if I hit a couple of rough patches I had a big bankroll. This one night i get to the game about an hour after it starts and I notice a younger kid I have never seen before and he is nervous and I think sweet new blood. We play for awhile and the new guy keeps leaving to go smoke and coming back and he does this like 4 times in about 2 hours so it looks la little off. Then we hear a knock at the door lilf looks through the peephole and its the kid as soon as lilf unlocks the door 2 guys in black ski mask burst through the door with AK's and the kid with his hands up. They line us up including the kid on the far wall take all our money jewelry cells and wallets. I lost my cell and 5k in cash I did not have a wallet on me because I don't carry it in those places and I don't wear any jewelry so they got nothing from me there. Then they make us take off our pants and shirts and shoes they gather them all up in a trash bag the one guy pulls out this pepper spray cannister and sprays us all and they bolt.. I figure at most they got was about 25k to 30 k I can't quite remember the value of what they got.

As soon as they leave lilf washes his eyes runs next door and calls the cops before the cops even come I have already accused the kid of being in on it. He swears he has nothing to do with it but he was the only new guy plus he was nervous all night and acting strange. Cops come take everyone's statement and pretty much everyone thinks the kid had something to do with it. Cops find the bag of clothes and wallets that night on the side of the highway. Less than a week later the cops arrest the kid and he gives everyone up. He said he owed these 2 brothers money from a gambling debt and he told them about the game and helped them plan the robbery. His girlfriend was the getaway driver and they all got caught and went to jail. I never got my 5k back but I was there when they were sentenced and I cheered when they found guilty because gently caress them.

I have a really good bluff story but I need to ask the other player that was in the hand because I completely forget what the hand was and how it played out. Once I get ahold of him and he relays the hand to me I will post the bluff story.

is it true that pool halls only play classic rock to keep blacks out

Partially true. You will always know what type of pool hall you are in based on the music playing. There are several pool halls here that are just white, black or asian and a some that are mixed it really depends on the neighborhood. I had a guy who use to run with me and he was sort of my bodyguard / money man. He would hold most of my money and he would drive me around to poolhalls. He would give me cred to get into some of these places and gamble and he also knew when it was time to split if things get shady. He has saved my rear end from a beatdown plenty of times and we both together have received some beatdowns in my really early years when my ego was out of control and I wouldn't keep my mouth shut when I was winning. He died last year of a heroin overdose and I didn't even find out until a few months ago when his daughter told me on facebook. Damon was probably 6'5" 350 and always carried 2 guns one under his seat and one on his waistband. He use to be a bodyguard for escorts. The escort would rent a limo and drive around town all night picking up dudes. They would pull over somewhere and Damon would get out and wait until they had sex . He hated the job but she paid him pretty well so he stuck with it. He would always be at my uncle's pool hall and we became fast friends because of my love for tupac and then when I went on the road and came back we made a deal for him to run with me full time. I could go anywhere and gamble and people would not gently caress with me or Damon. Once I got older and stopped going on the road we split ways and I never spoke to him much. He had a couple of kids and always hustled some type of way to make a living until he broke his leg and became hooked on pills and then after those ran out he od on heroin. That makes him my 9th close friend to die from a heroin overdose.

I'd rather my kid play a sport or be in plays or whatever normal kids do. I will however teach my kid to shoot pool and if he is interested I will play with him on leagues and things like that. I have a basement with 3 tables so they would be around it all the time and everyone in my family shoots pool so it will be hard to avoid.

The key to hustling is patience. Wait for a dummie to expose himself and let him feed his ego then when he feels like he has the advantage you expose yourself as the hustler. It gets them everytime.
