Dont judge me, I design your manhole
Replicant has it obscured by making the children monsters though. In Drakengard they are just straight up normal rear end human children.

I seem to recall 3 being better than the other two in terms of gameplay at least but it’s been a while since I’ve touched it
To be honest the combat in 3 felt better than the combat in Automata, since it at least knew what it was. It still wasn't very good combat, but it was serviceable. The main issue was that the level design was still pretty bad, and them adding jokes about not liking jumping puzzles did not help.

At this point I think I'd prefer a big game from Yoko Taro that had nothing to do with Drakengard or Nier, just because that gives them way more freedom. I don't want him to die in the gacha mines, and I also don't want him constrained to just these sorta games.

No matter what he does now people will expect a twist linking it back to Drakengard/Nier and will be disappointed if there isn't one. Even after playing the demo people expected Voice of the Cards to be a secret Taroverse game.

Admittedly I completely forgot about Voice of Cards. I didn't bother with that one since it seemed like the cards were an aesthetic choice for a fairly standard jrpg, rather than having an effect on the game.
