There's honestly not as much of that stuff going on as I thought there would be. Like, JR will call her an 'Amazon' and they'll talk about how physically impressive she is etc but not much more than that.

Think he means more around her initial debut. It had been toned down big time even by 98

The dividing line to me was the plastic surgery. She became portrayed more as an Amazonian fetish sex symbol after that.

Also saying somebody struggled with drug problems as a reason for excluding them from the HOF is rich coming from a company that has used drug/alcohol addiction storylines in their televised product about performers with real-life drug problems often against the performer's wishes.

The big blowout between them on the radio was if HHH ever hit her if I remember correctly. Still, all those drugs and bad decisions with Waltman, it wouldn't surprise me.

It's tough to believe she was only 45 and hadn't been with WWE since her early 30's.

Yeah when she first debuted it was super prevalent but I think it mostly stopped when they wanted to push her as the hero for women in that Jeff Jarrett feud

Yeah, exactly. When she first started, there were some comments that were as gross as anything said about Goldust's character.

They will absolutely put in Jeff Hardy one day dead or not, so they might as well find a better excuse than that.

How's your Funkentelechy?
I remember seeing some YouTube(?) video where she was ranting about the WWE while holding a gold dildo. All I could think was "She better get some serious help or she's going to die young."

drat heartbreaking.

Nah, they'll just whitewash history so by the time he's inducted people will think they always loved him. They do it all the time

I feel bad that I never expected to feel bad about this. Like, it's been so long since i thought of her as a wrestling personality at all, more like one of those professional reality stars like a Kardashian or Anna Nicole Smith.

Her story really is a sad one though, one of the saddest in wrestling and that was before an untimely death like this. RIP Chyna

hosed up the WWE welcomed nearly everyone else back in with open arms even when they had major problems but always kept Chyna at arms length due to her history with HHH.

Didn't really watch wrestling back in the day, but having a woman who got booked to actually fight with men is pretty incredible for WWE, even barring the outdated "is SHE a MAN?!" from back in the day. She was a key player in the history of the Attitude Era and it's a drat shame wrestling industry pettiness kept her from getting recognition.

RIP

Jeff won't really take much whitewashing because it's not really popular to hate on people for drug problems these days. On a scumbag scale of one to Moolah, Jeff scores pretty low by virtue of doing most of his damage to himself and his own career. Chyna is in a similar boat, in my opinion. She suffered more from her actions than anybody, and from tons of stuff beyond her ability to control as well.

Yea I've made some 'lol Chyna's a trainwreck' jokes I legit feel lovely for now. It's really easy to shove people in a 'lol reality train wreck' box even when it's not the funny kind of 'idiot repeatedly owns self' wreck and more the 'oh this person has legit issues and we're just kinda filming and laughing'.

To be fair, Steph is in a damned if you do, damned if you don't conundrum here. Do you acknowledge and try to say something nice? Ignore and refuse to address it? Whatever she does at this point is going to look bad.

This is kinda what I was getting at, albeit in more harsh terms than I'd have put it. Like, wrestling hosed her up BAD, but everything post-wrestling did just as much maybe more so it's just a gigantic quagmire of blame to go around and in the end it's just tragedy.

I've got a pocket full of cheese🧀, and a garden full of trees🌴.

I thought she was winning the battle with her demons that she had been fighting for many years. I thought she was happier. I mean there was that time when she was teaching in Japan that it looked like she would work her life out. Sadly it looks like it didn't.

RIP muscley wrestle-lady. Here's hoping you found some peace.

I think he can hear you, Ray.
Wasn't there the report a couple of weeks ago that she missed her Con appearance because she was so hosed up she missed the plane, and then asked them to buy her another ticket?

It's sad that she could clearly never move past those demons, even worse because for a time it seemed like she was doing well in Japan and had stayed clean. Being on the losing end of a love triangle and getting booted out of a company over it is going to be too much for someone who already had issues to begin with. The fact that it was so public is worse.

Then to rub it all in there's the "Oh she did porno and we can't have kids finding that so she'll never be in the HoF" while the same time the company is open to seeing Hogan come back one day. Because someone's racism is much more palatable than someone loving for money.

Granted of course she didn't help herself towards the end and lashing out with whatever she could at HHH almost certainly put the nail in that coffin.

Man that sucks. She was one of the defining names of the Attitude Era and in a way redefined what was expected of women in pro wrestling. Who gives a gently caress she did porn she was one of the biggest female stars WWE created. Time to bury the beef and put her in the HoF and fully knowledge her on next weeks Raw. RIP Chyna :(
