If they were going for nearby Challenges, I'd understand. These chucklefucks are joining my games, wandering off to the far corners of the map, and failing miserably either because they go too far away or just die to the enemies they can't solo.

My main is 25 and has not used any reroll materials. Save until getting some lv30 legendaries? Then backup on USB and savescum until getting something godly? Does loot go beyond lv30 like playerlevels kinda can?

I've been rerolling occasionally and I am at lvl 28. I would say don't sperg too much about it, you probably have a poo poo ton of materials by now and it doesn't cost too much to get guns to be at least 70% of their potential.

To those who want to run around the map instead of going to the helicopter - you are doing it wrong. Get the 3 treasure buffs from destroying spawn points and get to the helicopter ASAP. The more challenges you wander around doing the more chances of dying and losing your buffs. There will be more challenges to do next mission, ideally early on before you start destroying spawn points. Of course, if you are on hardcore or a difficulty you know you aren't likely to ever die then fine, go for a walkabout.

I do all the challenges along the way but I won't go much out of my way for them. Also, if you have the Evac to helicopter objective you can't destroy the spawn beacons anymore. Makes sense but thought I'd give a heads up in case anyone was curious.

And they've been making them for 23+ years! We lost our poo poo over Stardust in 1993, then Super Stardust with more colours the year after

This game really comes into it's own in the NG+ mode. I wonder how many reviewers actually played it as far as this, because none of the reviews I've read make any mention of it at all.

It doesn't take that long to get through the campaign, surely?

are you stuck with just one kind of weapon for each primary class? if so I have to switch from saboteur, I absolutely hate the stuttered SMG burstfire.

Ya, each class has their own primary weapon that they are stuck with.

I do wish the loot game had a bit more variety, like more primary weapons and armor pieces

I never, ever play anything multiplayer, but I accidentally left my game public when I was trying out a different character class, and i ended up playing for two hours with roughly the same bunch of randoms.
You guys weren't kidding, it IS a completely different game multiplayer, and i loved it surprisingly. Shout out to the heroic efforts to the guy who somehow managed to not only not get killed once the entire time, but held off the portal critters entirely by himself and politely rezzed everyone else's zombie rear end afterwards.

Kid just rages for a while.
I played this video game a bit as the Heisenberg-in-the-first-season class multiplayer.

There's something immensely cathartic about seeing everyone's health-bars low and immediately giving them a fresh bill of health.

Also shooting black-green magic missile AIDS is pretty sweet.

Wait are you around level 15? It sounds like a game I was in with pubs last night, I had the 25% health passive or whatever and some OP weapons and it felt like I was getting damaged much less than the 3 other dudes I was playing with, especially on the UFO.

Sorry, guy.
Random thoughts:

1) Does anyone else thing the Saboteurs Melee-during-Rush attack is broken/bugged/or looks weird compared to the other 2 classes having that particle spark momentum spray?

2)The whole teleport-to-your-host thing is a little annoying. I understand it, but it bugs me. Also it can be used to be a dick and/or grief.

3) This is fun. I am having fun!

4) I have an Alien Key. Should that be saved (and will it carry over) for NG+?

12h30m mission time, level 30/23 saboteur, until you finish it the first time: Great game!
You begin NG+: Greater game!
You start doing that on Veteran with 2-3 others: Even greater than that!
You start getting sucked into the loot game and managing core upgrades to beef up legendaries: This belongs on GOTY lists!
8/5 would love again. This is Dead Nation on the greatest of drugs. The time it takes to finish the campaign doesn't mean poo poo.

Enemy level appears tied to host level in a way that makes playing with friends at very different level from you either too easy or too hard

Makes sense i guess but makes it hard to play with specific people until your close enough in numbers

Nah, I started as a level one tank, ended up around 7ish. I'm enjoying it a bit more than the saboteur but is it just me or are the differences not really that obvious? Feels like everyone has the same moveset so far, but I like the double beams from the tank's primary weapon the most.

That would explain the experience of joining a late Veteran world2 game hosted by a 30/59 when I was 27. I got better and learned to stay back and alive, two three missions with him and I left as a 30/12.

If I get better loot heading into world3 I need to freaking go world3.

It's p. obvious 3 classes in a 4 man game spells DLC class, right?

[Edit] I, too vote more variety between classes. Maybe you can spec in one of 2 primaries. That'd be cool.

How do you get to the Ark ship?

Also, I kinda wish there was a mission to hold an area as long as possible. It's fun holding off the horde

This game is super fun. I found a flamethrower that also shoots boomerangs.

It took me a while to realize you can combine lower ranked cores into higher ranked ones.

I wish more people would rush -> melee shield soldiers to knock them down.

My life is changed! I've always went with grenades to bring those down: hadn't even tried punching them.

It's amazing how the first few levels are an absolute cake-walk and then they take the kid gloves off and make you work for those wins. I'm still trying to figure out a good answer to Sentinels though: is there anything I can do to either break their beam or kill them faster?

I understated the twin-blade ability of Saboteurs. When needing to clear out a cluster of big bad quickly in a UFO or Arkship I rush in with invis, artillery, and two swipes of that insane blade. And to deal with the pain in the butt teleporters, have someone specced to knock enemies down rush into them to keep them from teleporting again.

And you all need to take screenshots more often playing, like if you can spare the time in chaos to do it, then check out those details. It's insane. Local multiplayer will either force all players on the same screen or a lot of graphical detail will go. Best looking game of the year if we're talking tech.

I've never had slowdown like that on my stock PS4.

Another tip that's maybe not obvious: Your guns reload while inactive. You can swap back and forth and never see a reload meter instead of trying to hit the active reload in the middle of a horde.

Can anyone provide me with solo tips? I'm in the last 4th of the main story and everything is kicking my rear end and I feel like I'm having to respawn a million times per mission as my Saboteur. Should I roll a different class?

i beat the campaign as saboteur and didn't want to go further i really hate the smg. i thought the tank would be a liability with his short range but subweapons cover that pretty well and his main gun and extra health is good for swarms. haven't played much solo though.

So far I think I like the bio specialist the most. That poison ability is insane when you get the final version of it plus free heals on demand. The tank is unkillable if you beeline for the shield ASAP and the health passives. I really wanted to like the saboteur but it's not really working out compared to the other two.
