I'm going to laugh with glee if the endgame is Big Head buys Pied Piper and is the ultimate winner at making money entirely for doing nothing.

Great start. I loved S2 but I'm looking forward to a hopefully more light-hearted S3. Though it'll be hard to beat Dinesh and Gilfoyle's SWOT charting from S2.

How exactly is Monica a perfect representation of anything and effortlessly solving any problems? She spends most of her time as a glorified messenger for whatever respective groups have status quo changes for Richard.

Where is, the coder chick?

There's a quick line toward the end of S2 that they had to let all the newly hired coders go while juggling the financial stuff. Even though she was the only named one (and I think the other gaggle of programmers was shown exactly once), she was on the chopping block.

The funny thing about their compression system is apparently it doesn't need client side implementation to uncompress the data, given their intent with the porn streaming and the dude that nearly died in the zoo. It gets compressed and sent out and... magically uncompresses in the browser.

Which means that Pied Piper should really set themselves up as an ISP, or partner with Netflix and reduce 50% of all internet traffic to nothingness for a few billion dollars.

Even ignoring the episode title, it's a plot point in Ocean's Eleven that when things seem to fail catastrophically, it's actually part of the plan.

I doubt the knee pads figure in to the plot. More likely they're to save precious actor knees.

Why would Gilfoyle (sp?) say to Richard, "You were supposed to shred those" when absolutely no one but their group was in ear shot?

Better yet, what do they gain by tipping anyone off at a possible scheme at all?

Better better yet, gently caress it, I acquit.

We don't know what they get yet, because the fullness of the plan isn't revealed. Dinesh says that it had better be worth it for what they have to sacrifice... What EXACTLY do the naysayers think is being sacrificed here? Obviously not the box in favor of the platform. What would the guys be sacrificing and wonder if it's worth it?

I say it's the platform, and they've come up with something better that has yet to be revealed to us. They started out gunning for the platform, but offer it up as the ruse for Action Jack to get pissed about while there's something even better they've thought up.

Clearly the platform will crawl under a dumpster any minute now.

It seems I have a massive amount of poo poo on my face over the intended drop of documents.

Not as funny of an episode but it had its moments. I loved how everyone except Gilfoyle jumps up when Richard face plants.

I feel TJ Miller is being slightly underused. It's Erlich's shtick to basically be kind of incompetent and insert himself in a self-important manner into everything, but they're kinda laying it on thick this season. The board voting scene especially. I miss TJ Miller slapping a kid and tossing his bike to get drugs.

Then of course the smoking scene shows up and kinda undoes my complaints in a fell swoop.

I'm really hoping Big Head becomes the CEO by the end of the season.

Oh yeah. White Label reselling of just about anything useful is a pretty hot commodity. Most of the stuff regarding companies themselves and how the power plays go down is pretty drat accurate, even if the individual tech stuff is technobabble.

Richard becoming CEO is hopefully so he can learn he shouldn't be CEO. It made sense to fire him at the end of last season as everyone on the planet knows he's not leadership material; Richard himself has yet to learn that lesson. I'm hoping the last half of the season is Richard figuring out for himself what everyone else knew and stepping down, rather than getting fired. Again.

It matters to Python users.

To be fair, most every proper IDE allows you to configure Tab -> X Spaces if needed which is the best of both worlds.

Seriously, though. Neanderthals painted caves using tabs. Space supremacy. Though, what do I know. I use Nano.

I've loved Martin Starr forever and yeah, even though he basically exists just to poo poo on everything I can't hate his monotone sarcasm even if he doesn't DO anything any more.

I think this episode was the most 100% "you know where every plot winds up" that the show has done. You could see everything coming with Richard and Dinesh.

Except for Jared. This guy fucks.

Of course they have Gilfoyle reading LaVey's Satanic Bible so everyone can be reminded he's a Satanist when a joke needs to played off of it.

Good episode, but holy crap was Gilfoyle in the coffee shop the best poo poo in forever. Pesca-pescatarian was a close second, though.

The boys have had too good of a run for a few episodes. Problems, sure, but also solutions. Two episodes left so something's got to break soon.

Richard has geolocating on for users, given he learned Monica was using the app and lying about it. No way that all the new users are in one area doesn't come to light pretty quick next episode.

While not an episode heavy on the jokes, I dug Erlich's continued use of the plane crash metaphor with all the emphatic details.

They can still work on the platform once people become understanding enough to get it while pivoting to an easily graspable product of the video streaming.

Realistically, if this level of nigh-instant compression/decompression existed it WOULD change the world like Richard rants about during Jack's horse insemination. Over half the traffic on the internet now is video. Implement that with Netflix and YouTube and suddenly it's like we've just doubled all our internet speeds. B2B data becomes almost a non-issue. Cloud providers like AWS go from juggernauts to gods as they're able to serve up just about any data in a fraction of the time. At that point every other technology has to sprint to catch up.

Loved the finale, but I feel kinda weird that overall Pied Piper is in a good spot and no real poo poo is bearing down on them at the moment. Maybe it means they can break the mold and go a different direction with things now instead of another season of the "fail, slight recovery, tangent success, fail...." thing they've done.

Don't get me wrong. I love the show so another season as good as these would be fine even if they kept to the same mold.

S2 video stuff was about showcasing how awesome their compression system could be applied to anything, and video was just the logical choice, not the focus. Richard just has a huge hard on for file compression and until now no one has really sat down and realized that there's much more applicable areas.

Still is the logical choice, especially if the client end can apparently be implemented in Javascript given how no one was downloading anything to watch the dude in the bird enclosure.

Someone brought piss to a poo poo fight.

Depressing. I really like TJ Miller, though I've heard rumors he's a pretty big prick for awhile now. He seems pretty awesome in interviews, but I guess that's still a persona on some level. TJ Miller S1 would have been a devastating blow to the show. Since then he's still been great, and usually has one epic scene per season that justifies him, but he's probably the one character I'd least miss at this point. Still will be missed.

Uhm, excuse me, but I've been to Indianapolis. It was during the 89th run of the Indianapolis 500 (the one where Danica Patrick led for a number of laps). Therefore, Indianapolis is pretty much all white.

Ipso facto.

Found the most pretentious, annoying post on the forums. It's almost as if you're deliberately checking troll-boxes. Starting a post unironically with "uhm, excuse me"; use of "ipso facto"; passing off anecdotes as data. You're either trying to be a (bad) troll or entirely obtuse.

I saw an announcement that TJ Miller was going to elaborate on the departure yesterday with EW but can't seem to find anything pertaining to it. I've seen both that he was fired and that he left and nothing entirely definitive yet.

I wonder if they'll keep the house.

That was an amazing episode. I'm hoping that there's serious repercussions for Richard's actions beyond Jared, because gently caress Richard failing upward yet again, but holy poo poo watching Jared break was amazing after 4 years of him worshiping Richard.

Richard's been a dick but they finally brought him past the line and into full villain status. I have to give it to Judge. I never would have expected that. I just hope they do something useful with it.

I do like that Richard's inability to be a decent human being with regards to women he's sorta dated in times past leads him to loving himself over in some way again. It hasn't really shown its head much since S1, but given an opportunity Richard will gladly slit his own throat to be petty.

They never went anywhere with Gilfoyle's phone data. I guess it was just a joke but it felt like they might do something with it.

I liked the episode right up until the last few minutes. Watching Richard unhinge is moderately interesting, though painful to watch a dude chew out his friends with such animosity. It finally looked like there might be consequences to his actions, but... nope! For the second time in two weeks everyone hates Richard's guts and call him out on his stupid bullshit only to fall in line when it turns out that Richard accidentally won.

I know it won't happen but I hope next season opens with Pied Piper having acquired Hooli and they just skip a season of Richard v Belson Redux.
