So the Saddle just turns into a Ribbon type? I'd probably want to stick with a Brandname Saddle that has all but one status immunity then, since I don't think the Brandname feature can be added to other items.

The boost for two Brandname items is x1.5 to the equipment's Attack or Defense, three is around x2.25. That includes Pluses, so while level 0 equipment only gives +5, that's slightly more than a Ribbon's base defense, and it improves faster too.
