There's something driving me a bit batty in EVE right now. I occasionally do courier contracts, and I've noticed that for me the database doesn't update immediately. For example, a contract can be posted by a friend, and while it is visible for one or two other friends in the contract database when they search, it isn't for me for perhaps an extra 30 seconds to a minute. Not always, just sometimes. I imagine that the game is caching the results, and rather than getting absolutely fresh results each time I hit search, it's only getting new info every x seconds.
