There's definitely an issue that exists when there's a clearly more left-wing candidate (Bernie) with a superior record to Hillary's who's had his supporters smacked with the label "Bernie Bro" and called "white men" all campaign long, when Hillary says things like "if you break up the big banks, would that end racism," when people considering not voting for Hillary are accused of "privilege," and on down the line. They did it in the UK too, calling Jeremy Corbyn a "brocialist." It's incredibly unfortunate that cynical people would leverage the identity-based movement against the economic left wing, but I don't think any of us could have missed that it's happened, and on a massive scale. Look, corporations aren't bad, they're good, just check out the beautiful brand logos! https://www.buzzfeed.com/jarrylee/beautiful-rainbow-brand-logos-celebrating-marriage-equality

It's not as bad as moneyed right interests but it is a distraction tactic for sure.

Before we get into a nuke hard on fest, it's not really economically or environmentaly sound because solar is becoming cheaper and wind already is in some parts of the country. A wind turbine at worst can fall down, a nuclear plant requires vigilance and a lot of people to keep running.

Fusion is probably the nuclear boat we should look into because it's safer and makes way more power.

Like if you say Bernie has a black voter issue, Hillary has an entire age demographic problem that's insanely worse. Millenials hating her will probably doom her campaign.

I also forgot this forum has a gently caress ton of gen y people since this forum is full of people in their late 30s and 40s so it's funny when they, who are still more often bernie supporters, comment on millenial berniecrats its like their first cane wave.

Hey yall without any engineering background do you know at all how much it costs to run, construct, and maintain any nuclear reactor?

Solar panels are getting super cheap, battery storage tech is near breakthrough right now, and wind is even cheaper in some parts of the US. yall can dream of nuclear reactors but their affordability window has passed, to the point solar is cheaper to produce now than nuclear per KW.

I'm sorry but if you projected a 5-fold increase in efficiency for any of these it doesn't match anywhere near what nuclear can produce -- especially with regard to material consumption and ecological footprint.

Real costs are distorted by the incredible (absurd) safety regulations a nuclear power plant is subjected to. This is where the discussion really gets muddled. Three mile island and Fukishima have nothing in common with Chernobyl.

Bear in mind that power generation is a process that happens not only at the point of deployment, but also in gathering the materials necessary to construct the thing.

Strategic deployment of solar and wind is great and should be done, but this is an energy austerity scenario.

Lol you really want to cut safety regulations on something? Let me tell you a story about unregulated anything

Sorry but nuclear disasters are a big fear you're not overcoming and fukushima was the last straw
