Diced ones do have a chemical added to keep them firmer so don't use those. Calcium chloride will show up in the ingredients, and cans of whole tomatoes sometimes have it too. It's very annoying.

And if you have powdered milk, save yourself some time by cutting the milk by a quarter or so and substituting an equivalent amount of powder after the rice is cooked. Maybe there's a good conversion with evaporated milk too. Sitting around stirring a pot for an hour isn't my first choice!
