I would much rather hear a bubblegum pop song than a classic opera, but i'd never say the pop song is "better" than a good opera, even though I prefer it. But for the genre, it really kept things amazingly tight and took some bold choices which worked, so it was deemed "best" film. Learning to separate these two things is a big step to analyzing art in a way that can be compared and debated. everyone should try it.
