THE GOGGLES DO NOTHING!
http://www.techspot.com/photos/article/1155-affordable-dual-xeon-pc/

Basically, a dual 60 dollar Xeon beats a i7-5960 in a bunch of stuff. Am I silly for wanting to build this for my data science/deep learning project?

My motherboard is the Asus Z9PA-D8. I am soooooo excited to build this. To me this is like a 15+ year dream come true.

Multiple CPUs! Watercooling! Max RAM!

Wish me luck!

Vvvvvvv: its for machine learning stuff in python, which absolutely can use all those cores. I am planning to put a Pascal on it (or a discount Titan) and learn how to do deep learning as well.

The Geforce 9800 GTX+ was to give me graphics until i saw the onboard VGA. :v:

Status Update: ebay E5-2670s arrived and work fine. RAM works fine. ... but the motherboard has a busted RAM slot.

I can get 56 gigs to work as long as i leave a certain slot empty. If i put RAM in that slot it wont post and has the 'b7' code. (Asus Z9PA-D8).

Replacement on the way! Gg amazon!

I think I'm going to sell my 970 on craigslist once I can get my hands on a 1080. What do you guys think a fair price is for a used 6-month old Asus Strix 970 in excellent condition? $200?

200 looks reasonable. I saw one on Ebay for 204 plus shipping that closes in 4 hours.

This is only going to decrease as the 1070 and even moreso the new Radeons come out.

Another reason to never buy parts piecemeal is: what if the first part you ordered was faulty? If you can't assemble and test it, you might not know its broken until after the return window from the place you ordered it.

So instead of, return and get new part, you are going to have to work through the manufacturer, which will be slower.
