Double whammy today. The plumber installed the wrong type of ice maker box in my house... A 1/2 inch dishwasher Outlet rather than a 1/4 inch refrigerator water line Outlet. The refrigerator delivery guy spotted it and said that it wouldn't work, and an adapter would not be a good idea either because it would leak. ... And then they noticed that every single piece of glass and shelving inside of the refrigerator had shattered in transit

Hoo boy, I am new to the lawn ownership game and I tried using a hose-attachment "lawn fertilizer" bottle. I missed the part in the instructions where it said to keep hose flow at the absolute lowest minimum. The bottle drained in seconds so I've got a HELL of a fertilized south half of the lawn and a not-so-fertilized north half. Oops

I agree that they'd handle the 10 foot drop no problem, but I think he's more worried that the cats would walk out on the little ledge, fall above the dining room, and bash their heads in on the dining room handrail I think there is effectively a zero chance of that happening (but you know your kitties better than we do) and also cats are incredibly resilient. If it happened once, they'd be fine and they wouldn't do it again.

I just want to caution anyone and everyone to avoid purchasing an appliance from Home Depot. Their pricing and delivery timelines were great, but I have had to refuse two fridges now (with 12 day delays between each attempt) due to significant cosmetic and also functional damage to each one. The delivery guys also tried to cancel the attempts because it would require removing the fridge doors to get inside, despite the very clear fine print that delivery included door removal if necessary. They also refused to install it to my water line because it "doesn't look like the right size" despite being literally the right size. Home Depot doesn't actually do the delivery, but the people they hire to do it are absolutely awful

I did some homework on artificial turf and it seemed TERRIBLE for a few reasons -Incredibly expensive, like $10k to $30k for a small to moderate yard -It doesn't last very long -Horrible for the environment since it all ends up in a landfill for 10,000 years Also if you have a dog and it pees on the turf, you have to water it with a hose and worry your neighbor is going to see you and think you had a stroke.

Goons get massively triggered by elevated TV mounts for some reason. Stiff neck facets from being at a computer 17 hours a day, I suppose. Most Normies have their TV off to the side in a living room because it's not the focal point of the room. That room looks like a bog standard living room to me!

Speaking of, I bought my house with a big ol' disclaimer of "we have not used our fireplace since 1984 and it may or may not work in any way". What's the absolute WORST case here, as far as scope of work and costs, to get it running again? Two-story house built in 1981.

Yeah I don't know what the deal is. I'm up to 6 bids that range from $45,000 for bare-bones and $125,000 for a major remodel, so I'm clearly doing something wrong with my current strategy of googling/yelping/houzzing "Portland Bathroom Remodel" and contacting the ones with good reviews.

Envious of those low prices. Light remodel master bathrooms are $60-80k in Portland Gut and redo are $100k-$125k Master baths and kitchens cost exactly the same. (All prices assume mid to high end features, nothing truly luxury and definitely nothing like heated floors or a separate shower and tub)

You are either getting the "location means we can soak him" or the "this guy's gonna be a pain in the rear end" pricing. It could also be that or your definitions of "light remodeling" and "mid grade materials" are way, way out of spec with what most people would think. 5 places have given me a warning before I've even described the project or given my zip code that a light model bathroom with mid range components will start around 60k Is it your GC that you PMd me that got you those numbers? I got the impression that Portland has too many newly minted computer touchers and not enough contractors and it's causing a ridiculous renovation boom
