I found a new series on KissManga, called Yakumo Wants to Feed: http://kissmanga.com/Manga/Yakumo-san-wa-Edzuke-ga-Shitai I'm skeptical because on the one hand I'm not liking the overtly implied budding ~*feelings*~ between an adult and a high school kid, but on the other hand the food looks yummy and I do like how generally warmhearted the atmosphere is so far. And the latest chapter with the jealous childhood friend kind of made me laugh. I probably wouldn't recommend this, but I'll keep an eye on it to see how it plays out. Better than the food manga with the step siblings really. It completely slipped my notice, but the Japanese drama version of Shinya Shokudou/Midnight Diner has a season on Netflix it looks like. Gonna give it a watch hell yeah, it's basically a new season from what I gather.

Midnight Diner on Netflix definitely has the Netflix treatment because the camera work is quite nice making the food look very delicious. Kind of a funny thing is that during the opening sequence, you can see an advertisement for the Deadpool movie, probably because it was shot around that time.

Yeah, they're split into two parts, Summer & Autumn, then Winter & Spring. I think one of my favorite foods that's cooked is the homemade Worcestershire sauce and tomato pasta.

I hope you enjoy the Little Forest movies, after reading the manga, I'd say it keeps the same atmosphere and progression in a very nice way instead of deviating too much in an attempt to have "story." I mean, the bits of backstory seem a little more prevalent since it's in a screen format, but the focus is definitely on the harvesting and cooking. I was able to read the manga of Little Forest thanks to you mentioning it, I had no idea it existed since I was dumb and didn't think that the movies had to be based off of something. I'm glad you enjoyed them though! The cinematography and editing for the films are quite lovingly done for a simple slice-of-life narrative and the actress who plays Ichiko does a great job at the quiet sincerity and anxiety that the character has while diligently harvesting and making her own food.

I love Tsumugi's missing tooth. Today I made oven dried grape tomatoes, it was a good learning experience. Super simple too! They're now resting in a jar covered in olive oil and I eagerly await to make pasta with them after I buy some parmesan cheese. There is no pics because the jar is an ugly recycled thing At least I know what my default solution is whenever the dad person buys way too many cherry or grape tomatoes. Heck, the author is way better at writing food manga with actual high stakes compared to Shokugeki and the reason why people don't know about them more is that SnS is published in a more mainstream global outlet. Like c'mon, Ken in Nobunaga no Chef is cooking for his goddamn survival in the past here. Rad as gently caress.
