Yeah it's Bomb+Rock, but it takes an insanely long time to go off unless it hits an enemy and unless you're on the ground and holding down it damages you as well. The wall you need to break is on the last screen of the level, and there isn't a bomb enemy in the entire stage, meaning if you gently caress up the merge you have to start over and it's still usually easier to just bring in Dynamite with you and hope.

It's actually sort of a bummer that you miss out on this ending permanently if you do well enough in the game -- there are two good endings that are nearly identical, but this "bad ending" is all off on its own. I'm very divided on Kirby 64. On one hand, it has a great presentation, unique mechanics, beautiful music... but on the other hand, it plays like garbage compared to other Kirby games, and the collectables are annoying as heck in many situations, making the true ending super tedious to get. I just feel like if it were "remade" in the modern Kirby engine it would be so much more fun. We'll see how you guys feel about it after two or three planets. Hopefully you feel better about it than I do!

the fact that kirby is ludicrously slow, and using most of your powers either brings you to a standstill or makes you go even slower is my main complaint in the game. If you had a decent dash then everything else wouldn't be nearly as bad.

Right? I want to love this game on the level of Dream Land 2 & 3 SO MUCH, but its pace drives me absolutely insane. The merged abilities are nice, but in the end they are essentially a coat of paint over Animal Buddy abilities, so in the end... I feel like Crystal Shards is the weakest in the trilogy. Dream Land 2 is a slight bit better, if only for feeling like a much more tightly-packed and polished game (especially coming off the heels of Adventure), and Dream Land 3 feels like probably the best of the trilogy, with the most creative use of the platform.
