Do you guys know of a decent prebuilt HTPC style system that will fit in a media center and have a decent graphics card for around $700? This guy in the parts picking thread needs help and I don't want to tell him to get an Alienware Alpha due to the mobile GPU. He was looking at some terrible HP with a GTX 745.

Maybe a Falcon Northwest Tiki? https://www.falcon-nw.com/desktops/tiki/design Not $700 though. I mean, $700 is pretty low for a pre-built all inclusive with discreet graphics. For that range he's looking at something like a Alienware Alpha.

Yeah that's fair and those look beautiful but I'm guessing that far exceeds his budget. I guess I'll suggest the alienware alpha to begin with and if anyone else has suggestions for someone who's scared to build their own, please help that dude out.

I'm really curious about those coolers. They look neat but will they be effective? They remind me of the tunnel from Event Horizon:

If anyone can help me find a specific discontinued case for sale, I'd appreciate it a ton.

Cooltek w1 black no window.

Also listed as
Rosewill legacy w1
Jonsbro w1

Think there's no stock left anywhere, but goons do the impossible sometimes.

The only listing I could find that might be in stock is in Hanoi, VN. Also due to using google translate on the page I can't say if they have any for sure. I doubt they ship internationally but hey:

I'm trying to get a tiny computer with at least two Ethernet holes and ability to have fixed mass storage so I can have a jump box that's better than a RaspPi with a million dongles hanging off it. I know there are some NUC-sized boxes that could do the trick, but wondering if I could go smaller.

Does anyone know the computer used for the Netgate SG-1000?

or its larger sibling the SG-2100

The first one has its specs on the page. I'm not sure what's inside it, though:
SOC Marvell Armada 3720LP (88F3720) dual core ARM Cortex A53 processor @ 1.2GHz
System Memory 1 GB DDR4 RAM on board
Storage 8 GB EMMC
So, it probably won't be great.

I don't know what price you were considering but there are a few single board computers that are x86 based and do a pretty good job, but not all have dual ethernet. The Seeed Odyssey came out recently and is a little smaller than a NUC:

I'd like to take a PicoPSU (or similar) and mount the 12v jack to an ATX or flex-atx bulkhead so that I don't have a gaping hole in the back of the machine, is there a nice way to do that?

My PicoPSU had the jack attached to a flange with two mounting holes. You could easily trim a piece of metal, salvage one from an old power supply, or 3d print a piece that would fit in the slot and have an opening for the jack. I'm not sure if someone makes such a thing prefab but there's some designs on thingiverse for 3d printing:
SFX size https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1023509
ATX size: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3760352
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:105150
this one might need modification but I guess it's ATX: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1805454

Being mostly flat those would probably only take a few hours to print.

I picked up an Intel NUC on ebay. It's broadwell and had no SSD or power supply so it was $75. I used a universal laptop charger I had spare for the power brick and put in a 250 GB NVMe for $40. Set top box just running windows.

One in a million chance, anyone know where I might be able to get a repalcement drive cage for a node 804 case? Got one from a friend, which would be perfect to move my nas into ( I've got an old tried but true matx supermicro X10SL7-F even!) but for some reason he threw out the second drive cage

I've tried contacting fractal but no bueno , I might just have to figure out to fabricate my own since unless someone's smashed their existing case I don't know why they'd sell it, so I realize the odds of this are pretty drat slim

Might need to have someone 3d print one, there's an stl for it:

If you don't have a printer or a friend with one I think there's a goon printing service in SA-Mart.

No problem, I'd volunteer to print it but I'm angry with my printers right now. I like 3d printing but the printers I could loving strangle sometimes. If you can't find anyone else, though, hit me up.
