https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xP91_mCYThQ About Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is a mobile F2P RPG from Square-Enix and the makers of Brave Frontier. It shares some minor similarities with Final Fantasy Record Keeper but it's mostly Brave Frontier with a huge coating of Final Fantasy. Using given story characters and heroes from classic FF games you form a 5-man squad to run through dungeons, fight super bosses, and even other player teams in an Arena. Your story is standard Final Fantasy fare with an evil force destroying crystals, but the music is really good. Gameplay So this is your Home screen. Gil and Lapis in the top corners are your currencies. Gil is used to buy equipment, items, enhance your characters, craft stuff. Lapis is the premium currency and used to roll for new premium characters and also to buy more equipment/character/friend slots. Lapis is gained via completing quests, from clearing out new areas, from finishing your Daily Quests, and from daily logins. The Coliseum is where you go through 10 rounds of random encounters ending with an 11th round boss. Clearing that set gets you a specific reward and opens up the next difficulty. You can get some really good stuff from the Coliseum but it's time limited. You need orbs to enter and you gain one every hour. You also gain three on level up and it caps at three, so make sure to spend your orbs first if you know you're going to level up soon. You can pay Lapis to instantly get orbs but that's a waste. Combat is fully turn-based unlike FF Record Keeper. Everyone on your squad will move and act before the enemy team, so there's no bullshit like getting one-shot before you even get to select an action. You can either choose units to attack in a certain order or set your commands for everyone to be unleashed at the same time. Timing your attacks to strike at the same time results in Chains/Sparks which deal bonus damage. Stacking elemental damage results in Elemental Chains and boosts damage as well. Unlike Brave Frontier this game also allows you to use preset Items and Abilities that your characters have learned or equipped. Your Limit Burst and Summon bars increase as you deal damage, the former much faster than the latter. Each character has a unique Limit Break that can level up or even change upon ranking up. Summons (or Espers as they're called here) must be equipped to be used. This is your character screen. You can see Vivi's stats, what equipment and armor he can wear, what types and level of Magic he can use, his elemental/status weaknesses, what Magic he naturally learns, and what abilities/passives he can naturally learn. His Limit Burst experience bar is there. Each usage of the Limit Burst gives 1exp, so expect this to take forever to grind out. It's not particularly mandatory to do it since you'd probably use your Limit Burst 2-3 times in a boss fight at most but whatever helps. Trust Mastery is a unique spell, ability, passive, or even item that you receive whenever a character hits 100%. How do you reach 100% Trust Mastery? Well, every time you clear a mission there's a 10% chance that any character's Trust meter goes up 0.1%. Yeah, this is a super tedious grind. However, there are Trust Moogles you can fuse for decent percents, and fusing a same copy character will transfer over the Trust percentage with a 5% bonus. Espers pretty much follow the FF8 Junction mechanic. Each character can equip one Esper. 1% of the Esper's stats are added to that character, and whatever abilities or passives the Esper has learned the character can use as well. Enhancing an Esper requires magicite shards that drop from dungeons or is rewarded from quests, and every level up you receive a certain number of SP. You use SP to buy those tiles to unlock stats or abilities. Espers can also rank up, opening a new outer set of tiles with stronger stat bonuses and abilities. Even though every character on your squad can equip an Esper, when your Summon bar is full it depletes completely after use, so realistically you're only going to be able to summon once a fight. Characters will also inherit an Esper's elemental strengths and weaknesses, so if Vivi had Ifrit equipped he'd have high resistance to Fire but negative resistance to Ice. And just like any classic FF game there's a special animation for Summoning. Unlike FFRK this game actually has a world map with various areas and towns you can visit. Missions in red follow the standard X waves of enemies typically culminating in a boss fight. Missions in green are special dungeon maps where you can explore, find treasure, fight random encounters, and fight a boss. These exploration maps count as one long mission so your HP/MP won't get refreshed between fights. You have to equip items you want to take with you into the dungeon and you won't be able to restock them until you beat the boss and leave. When you first enter a town there's a bunch of NPCs who will offer you quests, and some quests will ask you to either find something or someone, or kill a certain monster. The special dungeon will usually hold the quest item you need. These dungeons are typically great in terms of XP/energy but they tend to cap out at around 20 battles to prevent people from grinding them forever. If you want the most loot and exp this is where you want to go. These are your standard Daily dungeons. Other games tend to follow a certain schedule for Daily dungeons, like Money Sunday, or Evolution Material Monday, but in Brave Exvius you actually get to choose to open one free Daily dungeon a day. It stays open until server reset. You can pay 100 lapis to open a second Daily dungeon but it's never worth it. The four Dailies right now are Crafting Materials (get a bunch of loot used to craft stuff), Evolution Materials (you're gonna need to run a lot of this to rank characters above 3*), EXP (grinding out special dungeons will get you better XP/energy but if you're in a hurry this is much faster), and Gil (just don't). Friends For most of the content in the game you will field your main squad of five plus a friend unit either from your friend's list or a random. Using someone from your list gives you 10 FP, a random gives you 5 FP. Every 200 FP you can roll on the free gatcha for characters and some of them are pretty useful. Most of them fall into the standard FF classes like Archer, Thief, Fighter, Spellblade. Some will be lesser known characters like Biggs and Wedge (in Magitek Armor) from FF6. Typically you'll be able to rank them up at least once and they'll cap out at 3*. People on your friend's list can also send you gifts like gil, FP, or tier 1 elemental crystals. Anything elemental will require an elemental crystal to craft, so these will be really useful early on. However, getting 10 FP per friend gift is also really useful for filling out your squad early on. How to play GAME JUST LAUNCHED. Download it from your respective Apple/Android store. Rerolling Unlike PAD your first gatcha roll in Exvius won't make or break your game. Some units are of course stronger or more valuable than other units but Lapis is easy enough to get, events will give out Summon Tickets, and the free Friend Point gatcha can give you decent units as well. If you want to reroll you should know that the game data keeps track of your device ID. Deleting the app and its data will not disconnect the account from the server. You'd actually have to wipe your phone for it to disconnect. The Global version of the game also uses Facebook as its main method of save data connection. I'd recommend using an Android emulator like Nox if you want to reroll. You can play past the tutorial and up to the point where you get 500 lapis and do your first premium roll. If you like it connect your Facebook account to it, if not close the Nox emulator and open a new one. Note that there's no bonus rate on the gatcha right now so getting a specific "good" unit can take a ton of tries. Here's a short list of who to look out for: quote:"Best": Vaan | Exdeath | Bartz | Cecil | CoD Vaan is the earliest unit in the game to naturally learn Full Break. If you've played FFRK or FFX, it weakens a target's ATK, MAG, DEF, MDEF by 30% for a few turns. Exdeath is the best black magic unit and the rest of that category will eventually be able to rank up to 6*. Cyan has access to good sword skills that can Paralyze, Edgar has all his FF6 Tools and is amazing for debuffs. Vivi is a mid-tier black mage that naturally caps out at the -ra level spells but at max level he has access to Dual Cast which greatly helps with Elemental Chains. Again, it's not necessary to reroll until you get one of the higher tier units since you could just use a friend's unit instead. Or you could wait for a bonus rate banner and roll for a better chance at getting these guys. Preregistration THE GAME IS NOW LAUNCHED. If you make an account before July 17th you'll receive a poo poo ton of new player bonuses. Woo! FFBE thread! First up, here's my Friend Code: 796,613,573 If it says I'm full on friends, lemme know, and I'll remove some pubbies. How To Properly Reroll, Or How Not To Be A Dumbass Like Kheldarn! DO NOT LOG IN TO FACEBOOK FROM THE TITLE SCREEN! If you want to reroll, here's what you need to do. First and foremost, you will need two Facebook accounts: A Dummy account, and a Main account. Once you finish the Tutorial, and have 500 Lapis, do a Summon. If you don't get a 4★, 5★, or character you want, sign in to Facebook on your DUMMY account, then sign out again. Repeat the Tutorial, until you get the Unit you want. Once you have them, sign in to your MAIN Facebook account. By using your Dummy account, each time you want to reroll, it will overwrite what you have with what you had when you signed into the Dummy account. Then, when you sign out, it puts you back into "guest mode", and starts the game all over, like you're brand new, and just started playing. Once you're happy with what you have, signing in to your Main account saves it there. If you try to sign into your Dummy account, it will just overwrite what you have, and you'll lose your good pull. I did it backwards, and I'm now using my Dummy account for this game. Now fore some more tips!
And some handy links: Maps for Towns and Dungeons. They show Hidden Passages, where to find items, quests, and more. Neat, managed to get it to work with Cydia RootCloak Plus. Really impressed with the presentation and I like the mix of Brave Frontier and Record Keeper. Now to reroll until I get someone I recognize. This gunner guy I got was neat and all, but I want an FF6 character, honestly. Preferably Celes, but I'd take Edgar. Edit: Oh, Celes isn't in the initial batch. Lame. Guess I'll have to see what catches my fancy. Echophonic fucked around with this message at 01:04 on May 22, 2016 |

Oh my god, Shadow looks amazing and he's got Interceptor. Also I've only done 5 and I'm sick of re-rolling. Sold. I'll get the rest of the crew eventually.

I said gently caress it and decided not to play the re-roll game because it's a loving pain in the rear end. I rolled a Cyan and a Garland which are both supposed to be decent but can't level past 4 stars yet. I also pulled some 4* spell blade but he can't be evo'd. I'm going to keep pulling from the friend summons because I really I need a healer.

I was rerolling for like 2 days before I said gently caress it and stayed with Vivi. He caps at 4* but at max level he gets Dual Cast which is great for just blowing up enemies weak to elements. If you stack your team right you can get a ton of elemental chains for extra damage. I've also spent lapis to max out my friend list and I'm at 120 right now. From spamming the friend summons I've found some pretty great units, mostly Biggs and Wedge. They have good elemental and non-elemental attacks, one has a Cure Beam, and the other has Bio Blaster (AOE damage with 50% chance to poison). There's also a High Priest free summon that comes with Cura.

There's a banner in the bundles section that lets you cash in 5000 lapis for 11 summon tickets. There isn't an improved rate or anything for doing it, though. I just got my rear end beat by the Advanced Chamber of Experience. That was some no-poo poo difficult content. I'm currently running Shadow/Firion/Krile/Kain/Rydia and it's going pretty alright. Have a few others from doing the Beginner thing and the lapis from just playing, but nobody mind blowing. Shantotto or whoever seems useful, since she's packing Libra and all the elemental magics. It actually has gotten way more forgiving across the board in most of the big name mobile games, probably as a result of that opt-in framework that shares purchasing data between developers. It's rare to see a game that doesn't have daily quests that give a big chunk of currency, for example.

If you're not strong willed enough not to spend real money then maybe you should just not play mobile games. Besides, if they didn't have cash shops to spear whales with the games would probably not even exist and those of us who don't blow entire paychecks on funbux wouldn't get to play at all. Seriously, calm down, it's not like anyone considers these real video games. They're time wasters you play for like 15-20 minutes a day on your lunch break or on the shitter.

If it makes you feel better, the new Final Fantasy game looks really good and a positive departure from Lightning. They did the very obvious thing that people have been joking about for decades and incorporated boy band aesthetic/dynamic/chemistry into the story, so you're one of a bunch of cute best buds in suits with popped collars who fight demons inbetween driving by scenic beaches in your car (that transforms into a plane) and do goofy feelgood hi5's after throwing a giant sword at a giant guy Also, go play the NDS dragon quest games.
