While I think it's definitely some lol FFP, I'm curious how one would launder money in this manner? Who's got the dirty money? How are they cleaning it via a loan deal? These are serious questions, I have a tenuous understanding of "money laundering" but I'm curious as to the mechanics behind it re: this footballing situation.

The issue is contract law is a bitch and I'm only properly educated in general finance. From what I understand the value of the player is accounted over the contract by an even annual depreciation; accounting over time for a clause you expect to receive (that doesn't exist) could open the possibility of shifting and shielding money enough to move small portions of the clause around without arousing suspicion of where you got any relevant liquidity.

But I'm chatting poo poo and I don't know. I'd suspect Chelsea to have the dirty money fwiw. I don't for a second think the italian league is any more corrupt than the qatari/iranian/russian petrodollars, and italian state or FA support for Juve certainly would never approach this level of cash. I have no idea if Roman Abramovich is able to hide untaxed assets as the financial clauses of a ridiculous loan deal. As a russian oligarch, I take it as a given that he does this *somewhere*.

I'd be honestly surprised if football was run as a giant money laundering scheme but corruption in football finance is why we have FAs and professional players. Sometimes, this much money being this stupid just makes me want to believe that PSG aren't actually spending £50m on David Luiz and that there must be a shady perspective that can better explain what was probably a youtube highlight reel and a really loving stupid decision.

It's fallen under the radar with the Sissoko news but Everton look to be signing Enner Valencia on loan with a FOURTEEN AND A HALF MILLION option to buy. 70 million to get Bollasie, Sissoko and Valencia. Everton have been loving mugged.
