I've never seen ENT. Does ENT deal with the founding of the Federation because that seems like one of the few interesting questions left in the time period before TOS. For me it was the episode where Phlox condemns an entire species of sentient people to slow, painful deaths, because of his personal belief in "evolutionary destiny", that their species was 'meant' to die off so as to make room for their world's neanderthal equivalents to evolve in their place. There was no Prime Directive to hide behind, just a criminally ignorant interpretation of evolution.

I wanted to strangle him there and then. A lot of people liked Phlox but I saw him as a literal monster for that.
