I don't think confused is what the poster meant. It's superficially baffling and absurd as an introduction, but the movie doesn't go out of its way to say "well she went out to shoot the donkey because..." You then figure it out as a viewer by watching the rest of the movie unfold. (I have not seen the movie, but that's my understanding of the post)
