If they're the standard GM key for, the solder joints on the battery holder like to break and stop working.

Either way, replacement fobs are cheap, and that's not new enough to require the dealer TechII tool to program new fobs like my wife's car.

Also, I'm pretty sure that premium gas isn't a guarantee that it's going to be ethanol-free.
