Here's one I made last year, recreating the blackhole from Interstellar. Made it in After Effects CS6. You can download and gently caress with the file here.

For a while I was on a 3d modeling kick and tried to build a few planets, one being Earth, the other being of my own design: I have, on occasion, tried building backdrops for them but ended up being too lazy and doing other, less good things.

Tace Vim posted:how did you make the cloud layers? I always find that part hard. I cheated and downloaded this: http://visibleearth.nasa.gov/view.php?id=57747 Each model is 4 spheres: 1. The surface is a layered shader with the continents being the alpha channel. There's a normal map applied to give some illusion of depth. The nightside is an alpha map that sits on top of the continental map that only shows up when light isn't hitting that part of the surface. Granted in this version the cities are so bright the might as well be on fire. 2. The cloud sphere uses the above linked image only as the alpha channel and normal map. The cloud color was me tooling around because the colors didn't look as sharp or good when I used that image as the map. 3. The Fresnel Effect to show there is some atmosphere 4. A fuzzy effect to keep from having a sharp edge around the globe. 8 track betamax posted:Here ya go... The two of us would be an unstoppable force of space landscaping.

I went to a museum or something in Utah and it had a whole room that was (I guess?) Jesus enjoying this space landscape. They seem to really be into space landscapes there and it had like 50 planets and space clouds. If you have a bigass atrium or dome to decorate, definitely consider a space landscape.
