chmods please posted:we got a new polycom in one of our conference rooms with a neat little touchscreen showing the upcoming reservations for the room, it connects to our office 365 and that works well. it shows everything about the reservation except for the title of the goddamn meeting i think that's a setting on the resource calendar you are using for the room and how it processes meetings. default in exchange is to set the appointment title to the name of the person who made the meeting.

the most needs suiting way of getting a voicemail is for the person to instead send an email that you can read when you're available, skip past the rambling bit, re-read the important stuff without having to scrub back and forwards through an audio clip, and then reply when you might not be able to make a call or they might not be available to take one.

we are moving to some new tool for documentation in the new year, and the excuses from the team that are running the project are already flowing in. "if you cant store the file type you need in this, just put them in sharepoint and add a link in the comments field". gently caress you, one of the only deliverables this project had was to replace sharepoint.

BiohazrD posted:also they only make you license based off of what host you want to back up. like if you have a 3 host cluster w/ 2 sockets each but only one host actually runs VMs that need to be backed up you only have to license two sockets and when you ask your account manager about it they dont try to bullshit you. if you say you have 2 hosts/4 sockets and you need to replicate over to a 3rd, and start the discussion with "i guess i need to license 6 sockets" they quickly correct you and let you know that you only need 4. a good software company.

i had a project curled out into my lap that involved two fibre circuits and one acting as a backup to the other. no information from the guy that sold it. spoke to the customer, they got two because a lot of construction work was happening in the area and they wanted to ensure that if anyone dug through their fibre, that they could still be online. welp, would have been good for sales to unearth this nugget, since both fibres were run in next to each other unless the provider was given a ton extra cash to route them differently.

not heard that sound in ages. are phones getting better at rejecting it or was it a gsm/2g thing? some of our newer polycoms advertise a feature where they can reject it but i have no idea how that works.
