Even if he never mentions it again, it isn't something that the OP can easily forget. After all, there are some things you can never forget, and much less forgive. It's comparable to knowing that someone you're friends with is a pedophile- even if the subject never comes up again, the question remains whether you could or even should stay friends with him. Incidentally, the correct answer is "No" in both cases.
