What's a good true arena ability that isn't too cheesy?

In what way?

Hammer can rip through the bosses pretty fast offensively. Though it can also cheese the true arena depending on what moves you use.

Just hiding forget in Leaf mode was pretty cheesy in Triple Deluxe.

I used Poison on my True Arena run. The dash attack is good for dodging and invincibility frames and you can get pretty good DPS with the up attack and cloud damage can add up. If you can get a boss standing in a puddle and a cloud and while you aim an up+b you'll do a ton of damage.

Clouds only deal a 5th of the damage puddles do, so puddles are more damaging if the boss can even be hurt by them. Ideally if you're using Poison, you would want to have the boss standing in both, as damage instances from multiple clouds don't stack. Same with puddles, but puddle and cloud damage do stack together.

I guess I don't want the final bit of this game to be too easy with me sitting in a corner and plinking at the bosses with shurikens. Poison might be fun because you still need to get close but you can poison surf through bosses.

Using i-frames to go through bosses is like the bread and butter of modern Arena combat.

The Behind the Scenes for Planet Robobot has started in earnest finally. I guess keep checking back on this specific community over time as they start to answer more and more story-related questions. There's already one of those questions they answer at the end of this first session.

I got to the final battle of the true arena last night. Poison is more fun as an ability than hammer tbh because there's a lot more options than run up and do the aerial attack. Using the standard poison attack and leaving poison traps for the bosses is fun. I'm ready for victory though.

I got to the final boss on my first try but Star Dream Soul is such a grudge match that I don't think I'm going to bother finishing.

I almost beat Star Dream Soul I still lost because of the red bars of death, even though I knew about them. I've got 196/200 stickers and I'll probably get those last 4 from the arena so I'll probably keep at it. Star Dream is at that point where it's still really hard even though I've fought against it about 3 times but it isn't infuriating.

FUCK THIS SHIT
I just finished The True Arena and it was balls to the walls difficult, though once you get boss patterns down you can power through with hammer absurdly quickly by abusing its ungodly number of i-frames on the dash

Dr. Healmore Kirby is the most adorable thing as well :kimchi: I was hoping Team Kirby Clash would be a dungeon crawler type adventure with a boss at the end of a randomized dungeon/stage but it turned out to just be boss fights with souped up powers. A randomized Kirby dungeon crawler would be pretty much the best thing imo

I love this game quite a lot, all the bosses are very memorable experiences and the new powers were pretty fun to play with. My favorite stages were the massive casinos with money and pool tables everywhere.

That's probably likely since the past couple Kirby games seemed to base the main villain on whichever game was having an Anniversary that year (Amazing Mirror for Triple Deluxe, and Super Star for Robobot) THe next game would probably come out to coincide with either 64 or DL3.

Didn't they show up in Return to Dream Land after you left Pop Star to basically be Magolor's place's equivalent to a Waddle Dee?

The FINAL final boss has a couple of his attacks. Also the FINAL final boss is a NOVA so there's also that.

More dev stuff from the last Miiverse Q&A.

Including:

quote:

That's quite a thing to spot. In Kirby's Adventure on the Famicom (NES), Meta Knight's eyes are indeed white. At that time, there was a limit to the number of colors you could use, so I think that white was chosen because it stood out more. They were also white in Kirby Super Star (EU: Kirby's Fun Pak), but when we created the 3D model for this game, giving him white eyes somehow didn't feel right. And besides, his eyes have always shone with a yellow glow from behind his mask. We were worried about how old-school fans might react to this, but for the purposes of the design, we settled on yellow eyes.

My little brother and I got this game for Christmas. Pretty drat fun, beat everyhting including the True Arena. However, the final boss throwing an instant kill shockwave out of nowhere right before it dies is a really bizarre dick move.

I dodged it but my little brother didn't. He paused the game to come brag about beating it, then when he unpaused I got to watch him blow up. He was furious.

The Kirby development team behind the scenes/screenshot contests are still one of the few reasons Miiverse was worthwhile in the end.

Stuff like this is magical:

quote:

This screenshot seems to depict the extraordinary meeting of the Lor Starcutter with…itself! This craft is capable of traversing space and time, so a meeting of two Lor Starcutters from different times is certainly possible. Wow, wouldn't it be cool if that really happened? I wonder - the Lor Starcutter that can be seen when Galacta Knight performs this attack...what time is it from? And, if there is someone inside it, who are they, and where are they going? Presumably, when the rift opens and we can see them, they can see into our world, too! Ooh, it really sets the imagination racing, doesn't it!

I admire how little of a poo poo the recent Kirby games give about playing fair with their extra modes. Most gamers could probably beat Robobot half-asleep, then the True Arena comes and stomps you into the mud.
