Yeah how dare they give the Conn Smythe to the best player.

This just now crossed my mind to wonder but..... Mike Johnston is getting his name on the Cup for coaching the first 40% of the season, isn't he?

ElwoodCuse posted:Kevin Porter gets his name on the Cup. 41 suck rear end regular season games Porter wasn't a bad fourth line guy. Most of those games were under Johnston so it's hard to say how good anyone was in those days. Scuderi only played 25 games with the Penguins--gods, it felt SO MUCH LONGER than that--but says they petition to have his name put on the Cup.

2DCAT posted:The Pittsburgh radio guys said people were trying to buy a billboard in Toronto with Kessel raising the cup and eating a hotdog, but were vague on the details. I can't find any other stories about it and it makes me sad that this might not be a thing. If there's a gofundme for this I'm in for $100

Nitramster posted:I just realized this is the first time in recent memory that a trade with the LA kings didn't completely screw over the other team. Yeah Scuderi went to Chicago for Daley and then to LA for Ehrhoff, but man did Rutherford have some kind of year fleecing people on trades. Kessel for a decent prospect and a first, Bonino plus a lottery ticket for Brandon Sutter, Hagelin for Perron, Daley for the literal worst player in the NHL and the Penguins didn't even eat his entire contract, Jultz for basically nothing. The team was completely transformed in a few months' time, and not just by the coaching change. The Penguins' sudden and years-overdue willingness to let young guys like Sheary and Rust and Kuhnhackl play instead of burying them behind old never-weres was a welcome development too.

I would like to see the Penguins replace Lovejoy and/or Jultz by just letting Derrick Pouliot play for at least like 3 months and seeing if he steps up or not. I'd rather do that before giving him away pretty much for free, which it feels like is what the Pens are probably going to do.

Yeah not that it's any of our business if he really had never touched alcohol in his life by age 30 then it's about 100% that he either would rather not tell the media about his tortured family history of alcoholism or would rather not tell the media about his superfaith. I wouldn't want to tell the media about either of those things, either. That poo poo's private.
