I used to live in a town that was essentially surrounded by three reserves, and holy poo poo they are the most miserable loving people I have ever seen. I never saw one smile, or be kind, or have kids that didn't look matted in filth. Or be filthy themselves, hanging around the back of the store I worked at getting drunk on our postage stamp of grass, getting belligerent when I told them to stop smoking crack in front of children.

And then there was pow-wow! A great time for Natives to come together and celebrate their culture by getting drunk and look for white women to rape.

yeah some people were mistreated, but the goal of the program was not malicious. it was supposed to teach them english and lets them more easily integrate into white communities, which was supposed to be positive. you do realize that education is mandatory today for native children in Canada just like every child right? if the residential schools were a "cultural genocide" than that genocide continues to this day!

If so, tell him if Big Chief Double Down would knock off the Whomp'um big payouts on video poker and slots while building sacred Adidas Outlet Store #1859 and instead spend the money on getting their schools halfway decent and building homes that weren't single wide trailers, they'd be much better off. Got plenty of fuckin' Natives tho. Jesus, and I worked for some once. The daughter had distractingly huge tits and never wore a bra, was knocked up at 18. The mother and her would scream at each other all day. Their ranch looked like no one had done an honest days work on it for years. There was a truck that broke down about 200 feet from the house and that's where it was a year later when I started, plus 20+ vehicles in various states of falling to rust.

They would tell me and my coworker to do something, and then half way through they'd change their mind, making the work we just did a complete waste of time. I didn't complain because it was a cash job, but then they ended up owing me money. The next time they paid up in full, I was loving out of there.

Paraguay is reasonably chill towards its natives, and the indigenous Guarani language is widely spoken, often at least partially by mestizos too.

Though human traffickers used to kidnap and enslave the nomadic tribes until like the 1970s, but there are tons of farming communities populated by Guarani-speaking settled indigenous people.

Yeah, it's hard to explain to someone that hasn't had any experience living on/near a reservation just how much of an art form natives have made wasting their money.

As soon as that government cheque hits their hand the first thing they do is go buy enough groceries and other necessities to get them through the week, because they know that within a day or so that money is going straight into liquor, cigarettes and VLTs.

And it's not just the welfare cases. My brother teaches at a reservation school and he knows teachers that make $100,000+ tax free a year that have absolutely nothing saved in their bank account. They get paid on Thursday night and by Sunday morning every penny is spent. It's almost impressive when you think about it.

I live between two reserves (one blocks away, one about a km away) and things are pretty mellow and integrated, outside of the reserve at least. The reserves themselves look pretty third world. (Vancouver)

Honestly they tend to blend in with all the other asian immigrants.
