I'm not sure how we're playing this, but that'll effect my decision. I'm very worried about my defense, I feel like I might lose one of them and unless it's Merrill (it won't be) that will very negatively effect my team  Also, according to the expansion tool, Howard is not an auto-protect, which I thought he was, so  ?

Well I mean in some kind of insane post fantasy draft expansion draft world I'd say yeah, it's not like these hypothetical teams would run around with like 24 contracted players for an entire year, dudes would get signed -- the expansion draft is in 2017. e: it's kind of the same thing as going after someone like Versteeg. Euro players should be really be fair game unless it's a weird case like Kovalchuk. 99% of those guys would jump at a NHL contract if offered. The point of setting limits on the number of protected players is obvious, whereas the point of enforcing limits on the number of exposed players when we have half as many contracts as most NHL teams is not so much.

i actually wasn't even thinking of it being after this next season, it was more of me expecting us to have a Vegas guy roll through and take someone from our teams now and have a team for this upcoming season. Even though that's not what is happening in real life. And in that case taking Streit off my top pairing with the only other defender in the system being an 18 year old Jake Bean would be bad for this year. But Streit only really has 1 season left anyway so assuming random Vegas guy would be taking players for a team starting a year from now then yeah I would have no reason to protect Streit at all, as Jake Bean is a surefire superstar even at the age of 19 based off of being named Jake Bean

It will be a slow process, but hey we still have like 5 teams that arent full yet so maybe by the time I get there we will have that sorted out as well.

Yeah, I protected Sharp because I was under the impression that we were doing expansion straight away, but if we're going to sim the first season for realism, I would let him go UFA

Team Monster-Midget is about what I expected so far. Laine is legit, my D is fairly strong, and my center depth is rough. Marchesseault is able to play up the lineup at least.
