Victor really seems to think his nomination speech was smart and cool instead of containing weird sexual harassment and aggression. What goes through this guy's head?

Bridgette is my favorite, I'm so bummed. I've been catching up on the live feeds thread, so I don't know if she's done anything lovely, but as far as I've seen her and Tiffany were pretty mercilessly bullied, and while Bridgette definitely had mean girl moments, she seems sweet when she's not being socially pressured by people like Jozea or Bronte. I'm hoping she has the round trip ticket. Honestly, I'm just hoping the round trip ticket gets used at all (excepting it being on Paulie or Victor), since they expire and so it could theoretically never appear.

Arcanen posted:I think this is undermined by how she acted towards Frank and repeatedly thanked him early on for doing things that were actively detrimental to her game. I honestly believe she didn't view her relationship with Frank as romantic (I'm not entirely caught up on the live feed reports our lovely STAC Goat provides, though) - it seems like he was a father figure and that her own parents were kind of lovely - they forgot her birthday one year because they went out shopping for a new house and had too much fun doing that. She was fairly drunk at the time too, which is why I think she forgave him. I wish he had revealed it when she was sober and therefore more critical. It may have been a different story.

JOHN CENA posted:we've breached it and this is a season thats in contention to displace 9 as the worst ever Could anyone provide some background on what made Season 9 awful? I did some brief research and it looks like early on a Houseguest who would go on to win and use that money to start a drug ring had also made negative remarks about people with autism, and that there was also a really lovely gimmick question in an HOH comp. I'm wondering if there was any other major controversy I'm missing that made it the worst season, or if it was just unwatchably boring.

I feel legit bad for Z because every time someone said, "Your boyfriend is an rear end in a top hat" she just came running back and was like "why do people think you're an rear end in a top hat? I hope you still want to be with me." It's the kind of relationship that would absolutely become abusive in the real world and when she told Julie she would hope to continue that relationship "if he wants her" still, I got really sad.

It would be magical if the Friday episode isn't actually there for any Battle Back plan B and in fact it is just "here's an hour of Paulie being a douche" as if they had anticipated a further meltdown. They may have realized they need more time to show some of the more complex house dynamics since everything has flipped (Michelle's face turn is still really a feeds-only thing). I want to believe.

I'm already surprised at how they're showing off how much Paulie is continuing to alienate people in the house. I hope the Calafiore relationship with CBS is done. Britt Burns posted:That whole diary room spiel Paulie did in the backwards blue cap sounded extremely scripted - I think production dictated it. You're right on the money, friend! The feeds suggest Paulie refused to do his punishment for quite a while before something said over the PA (with the feeds off) or in the DR convinced him to try baking a pie - he had to do it twice for them to get enough usable footage. I have no idea if he's going to get a penalty vote for not immediately complying, or if they'll sweep it under the rug. Wee Bairns posted:He's getting a completely sympathetic edit. ToastyPotato posted:Completely bullshit edit and I was right to think they were going to do it. This is why they need to abandon having people related to past HGs or even past HGs themselves on the show. I dunno why or how they care so much about Paulie, but here are somethings we didn't get to see this week. Just wanted to add in that the message wasting all of the tampons and pads was "Tampons are not toys and neither are pads" which makes me wonder if a girl had said something to him about not loving around with their hygiene products, and being told he couldn't do something he decided he was going to poo poo all over them. Also, I believe at one point he accidentally was telling people his grandmother had cancer, and not his aunt, which makes the story extra suspect and therefore lovely.

Who's ready for a Paulie round trip ticket? Calling it now so it's a win/win where I'm either right or I'm relieved. ETA: Oh my God, they're ACTUALLY showing Paulie resisting his punishment. I guess that means he's definitely getting that penalty, then. E2A: Oh, never mind, it's just to make him the victim of bullying. He is officially being given production's full sympathy. I wonder if they really will manage to flip the votes by having Paul convinced he's just casting a sympathy vote. He'd have to be pissed. Binary Logic posted:How is baking pies even a punishment?! Lean into it and have some fun. The worst part of it is that it lasts for the rest of the summer instead of just for one week, and that he needs to wave a flag while the pie is in the oven. Still, it seems like a fun punishment and an amazing way to build up a social game - if Bridgette was still in the house, she'd be able to be really helpful in teaching about making apple pies, and in general being the provider of delicious pie would surely make people like you more.

I thought the carnival and Ziggy concert happened days ago. Did it just leak days ago and it was actually recorded last night without Paulie in the house? Did they, like, greenscreen him out somehow? This is bizarre.

STAC Goat posted:Not only did they edit him out (pretty sure you see his arm in the bottom right of the beer bottle cheers at the start) but from what I heard on the feeds Paulie actually won the sPectactular. So they not only edited him out but they had Jessie film a Victor win announcement and Victor do a win DR. Presumably while Paulie was there. Was Paulie disqualified by being sent home/being a baby about his punishments and stuff? Did they give a second one to Victor and make everyone agree to pretend Paulie won nothing? Are they actually not gonna give two prize sets away, so Paulie gets a prize but everyone is forced to pretend that Paulie wasn't there? Why did they bother pretending this happened last night? Is it really beyond the ability of America to watch a single episode released later about an earlier date? I have so many questions about this clusterfuck of a pointlessly more difficult editing decision. I do agree about the showmance though and I'm glad they showed Paulie being kind of a dick and making Zakiyah feel bad about herself, even though it's not "HAH yeah we banged with no condoms, no big" levels of douchey.

patonthebach posted:Not that I agree with the insult or would say it myself... but... Day does brag about being from Inglewood and how she dont play. It's pretty common for people who are from marginalized groups or areas to use the things other people are marginalizing them for as points of pride or empowerment. A woman of color self-identifying as ghetto in an attempt to get a white man to back off is much different from if that white man identified her as ghetto to discredit her emotions. The context is definitely more important than the actual content. I also think Da has every right to feel hurt by Paulie because she's watching one of her best friends in a relationship with somebody awful who was specifically awful to her, and it has to feel like being betrayed. I also hate Big Meech's comic book cover, which was definitely unfairly cruel. She is also an unfairly cruel person, but hers is definitely stemming from self-esteem issues. I might be too much of a skeleton warrior to enjoy this show anymore. TheRecogScene fucked around with this message at 03:42 on Sep 18, 2016 |

I can't believe they bothered to do two separate flashback episodes this year. The ratio of re-hashed content to not-yet-aired feeds footage is always so far in favor of rehash. I wonder if the houseguests are purposefully trying to give terribly delivered intro lines to those segments, or if they're all legitimately bad at acting. I thought it would be a fun idea one season to just be like, "hey, here's some booze, we need you guys to reminisce about stuff at the table, but we won't actually guide what you talk about; we'll just edit it together based on what you want America to see." That's a potentially dangerous game though, considering how much the TV portrayals differ from the full view on the feeds.
