Wow, a Shira Oka update? It's all I ever wanted for Christmas!

It's always really nice to see one of these.

Hiroshi is actually capable of technically helping people while being an rear end in a top hat. Aya would have complained nobody was carrying her instead.

Hiroshi is manipulative and sexist in addition to being a bully, while Aya is just a bully. He's got my vote.

See also my "Aya has a lovely home life and probably an undiagnosed learning disability as well" post on the previous page. Hiroshi seems to have a loving family - at least from what we see of Rena - is good at school, and is popular. Yeah he's peaking in high school and that's sad, but that's not a good reason for him to punch down at people like the early-game player and Kazuki. Aya deserves some slack, Hiroshi doesn't.

Neat. Sweet. Petite.

It's weird given all the off the wall things that happen that the suspension of belief breaks at a school inviting a graduate to compete and Hiroshi accepting. Thought accepting it is just going to play into the idea this is where he peaked and all downhill from here.

: Hey Kazuki, what's wrong?

: ...They haven't forgotten.

: Hmm? What do you mean?

: Somebody brought it up in every class. Not a single part of the day went by when everybody forgot.

: Oh... just give it a little more time, maybe?

: But I shouldn't have to.

: Well, it'll take a little while...

: I'm tired of it. Nobody takes me seriously. Ever.

: Hey, I'm your friend, right?

I mean, I didn't intend on going your route but we're still buds, right?

: Well, you are...

: And so is Suzu!

: Yes, Suzu is too, but...

: Are you sure?

I knew a kid who moved up two grades in primary school. Turns out that's pretty bad for making friends, they tend to feel a little out of place. Kazuki and Suzu only got accelerated about half a year so it wouldn't theoretically be that bad but...

: Entirely...

: Maybe you should try to forget about it.

I don't actually like the options I'm picking, the other options just seem worse.

: Forget about it?! It's all well and good to SAY that... But haven't you been listening? Nobody will LET me forget.

: Oh...

: It's like everywhere I go, somebody's waiting to make fun of me! My life is just one big joke.

: I'm sorry...

: No, you don't have anything to be sorry about. You're the only one who didn't mock me.

: What about Suzu? She's still your best friend, right?

: But that's just it! Suzu was laughing, too...

: Forgive her, Kazuki. She's a good friend of yours, isn't she? There's no reason to lose a good friend over this.

: Maybe you're right... but even so... Nobody else is treating me well.

: I see.

: I just don't know what to do anymore. I can't go anywhere or do anything.

: Well, you can't just spend the rest of your life hiding out like some sort of hermit.

: No, I guess I can't. As much as I would like to, heh. I guess I'll see you later, Goon-kun. I just want to be alone right now.

Rough day for him, eh?

: Yeah, Suzu? What's up?

: Do you know what's wrong with Kazuki?

: Uh...

: I've been worried about him lately. He doesn't seem like himself.

: What do you mean?

: It's just not as fun when he's not there!

: You mean he's been skipping work?

Wait, he actually works there? I thought he was volunteering. Does he get paid?

: Yeah, I don't get it...

: Wow, he's taking this really hard.

: Taking what hard?

: You know, what happened at the sports festival.

: Oh, that. Is he still upset about that?

: Seems that way.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I really wished I could remember my original run of this...

: Well, he's a little mad at everyone.

: Mad? Why mad?

: Well, he's sure everyone's mocking him.

: But is he really mad at everyone?

: That's what he says.

: Well... he's upset that you laughed at him.

: ...I didn't mean to hurt his feelings!

: Ah...

: What if he never forgives me?

: I'm sure he's not that mad. Just tell him you're sorry.

: Are you sure?

: He's your best friend, right? He can't stay THAT mad at you.

: ...I guess you're right.

: Yeah, don't worry.

: I'll go talk to him later.

What are we now, team dad?

We're off for the rest of the week, no events.

: Hey Kazuki, how you feeling today?

No missing "are" there, Goon's just cool now.

: A lot better. I was thinking about what you said. I've decided to try not to let it get to me. It was just ridiculous of me to-...

: What is it?

: I think I hear something. Come on... See that?

...What about them? They're in the grade below us, aren't they?

I kind of love the little anger mark. You can tell he's angry anyway but it's still funny to me.

: Kazuki, you can't let it get to you.

: Ugh... every time I start to think I'm over this, SOMEBODY reminds me!

: Kazuki, you're getting all paranoid. Nobody's out to get you.

: PARANOID? You think I'm PARANOID?! Look, Goon-kun, everybody's been taking shots at me. All day long.

: Kazuki, calm down...

: Are you even listening? Nobody will leave me alone! *sigh* Sorry if I seem a little jumpy lately, but the fact is nobody will leave me alone!

: You need to learn to ignore them.

Goon's just repeating himself at this point, isn't he?

: Ignore... them? What do you mean, ignore?

: I mean just that. Ignore them. Show them that you're stronger than any of their cruel jokes.

Did this actually work for anyone? I just figured this advice was there so the teachers didn't have to do anything.

: I could try... I just don't know what to do anymore.

: Well, try this and see how it goes, okay?

: O...oh...okay. Thanks, Goon-kun... I can always count on you for advice.

We're still training up in between events but at this point, there's not really much to be doing.

: Oh...

: I'm sure he'll be better soon. Don't look so sad, Suzu-chan!

: Are you sure? Alright...

: What's going on?

: I was just telling Suzu that Kazuki won't be going to the shop today.

: I hope he's back soon! It's just not the same when he isn't there.

: I'm sure he'll just be out a couple days, at most.

: Yeah, I hope he'll be better soon.

: He hasn't...?

: Nope. He says he hasn't been in the mood to spend any time there.

: Then...

: He hasn't been going straight home?

: I saw him coming out of Midori Electronics a couple days in a row, carrying large bags.

: Bags? Of what?

: I dunno. He wouldn't tell me. He just said it's a secret.

: A secret...?

: Yeah, like he's working on a secret project or something. I wish he'd tell me what it is! I want to work on it with him.

: That's too bad.

: Well, I'll talk to him tonight and see if I can get him to tell me what's going on.

: Yay! You're the greatest, Naoko!

: I hope he'll tell me... I haven't gotten him to say much to me lately.

: Really? Not even you?

: He's been pretty quiet lately, hasn't he?

: Yeah, ever since the sports festival.

: Oh, is he still upset about that?

: Well, he was humiliated in front of all his friends, and then some...

: Well, I'll talk to him about it when he gets back. I'm sorry we made him sad!

: Why is he out anyway?

: He asked if I'd get his homework from school, so that he could rest at home.

: Aww... poor Kazuki!

: But will he actually be able to do the work?

: I think so, dear. Don't worry, he won't fall too far behind. I won't let him.

: Maybe I'll go visit him later. I can help him with any homework he can't figure out on his own.

: Oh, sure.

: Great, I'm sure he'd appreciate the company.

: Yeah, would he even want to see us?

: Hmm, let's give him a few days, shall we? If he's still not over it by then, maybe you two can come over to see him. He'd probably be dying for visitors by then, after being cooped up for so many days with only me for company.

: Yeah, I'll be sure to stop by!

: Maybe I should make him some of the chicken soup Mom always made when we got sick as kids.

: I know I would, Naoko.

: Aww, thank you, Goon! You're so nice.

: Hey, I should go, I got to get to the bike shop.

: Yeah, I have things to do too.

Here's hoping we get to the bullshit soon.

: Sure, what is it?

: See, Kazuki's still a bit sick, so he hasn't come back to school yet. And I've been bringing him his schoolwork, but I have to run some errands after school today.

: I see...

: Oh, sure. It's no problem.

: Really? Great! You're a lifesaver, Goon.

: No problem, I'm always willing to do a favor for you or Kazuki.

: Well, in this case you're doing a favor for both of us. I'm still a bit worried about him.

: How is he...?

: He hasn't gotten better yet. He's still really sick...

: Will he be back soon, then?

: I'm hoping so... You know, I've been thinking... Maybe this time off isn't so bad for him.

: Oh?

: He works so hard and I know he gets down on himself sometimes... Maybe this will be good "reflection time" for him.

: That's true. I'm sure he'll reason it out.

: I think so too. Well... I'll see you, Goon. Here's his homework. Thanks for doing this for me.

: Sure.

Game: You walk to Kazuki and Naoko's house and knock on the front door, but there is no answer.

Game: However, there is no answer.

Huh... Naoko's not there, but he SHOULD be home.

Game: You sigh and knock again.

: Kazuki...?

We call him. Gotta keep pushing here.

Game: You take out your phone and call their home number, hoping he will answer.

: Come on, Kazuki, pick up.

Game: The phone rings several times, but there is no answer.

: Geez, hope nothing bad happened to him in there...

Game: You sigh and hang up the phone.

: Maybe he's asleep.

We call again, of course.

Game: You try calling again.

: Come on, Kazuki, pick up the phone.

Game: However, the phone just keeps ringing. You let it ring a few more times before hanging up.

: Hmm, what should I do...

Game: On a whim, you try the doorknob.

He's probably asleep. I won't bother him.

Game: You leave his homework on the living room table and leave quietly, shutting and locking the door behind you.

I hope he sees the papers I left him...

Now it feels like we're starting to get into the meat of things.

: Yeah, I stopped by on my way home.

: Oh my, thank you so much, dear! You're a lifesaver.

: It was weird, though...

: What happened?

: Well, he was home, wasn't he?

: Yes, of course. He was asleep in his room when I got home... that's why I couldn't ask him if you brought him his work.

: Well, I left it on the table for him, but I don't know if he actually got it.

: You... don't know?

: He didn't actually come to the door, but I saw that it was unlocked, so I just left his homework on the table.

: I called the doctor this morning to come see him at home.

: Oh, wow, it's gotten that bad?

: Possibly. I thought it was just a cold at first, but colds don't normally last this long...

: Huh.

: No, I just left the homework on the table.

: Well, he might not have heard the door, his room is fairly far off...

: I called too, though.

: And he didn't answer that, either?

: Nope.

: Oh my, he must have been sleeping pretty soundly...

: Either that or...

: Or what?

: ...Maybe he was TRYING to miss it?

: Do you think he's trying to shut himself off from the world?

: I don't think that's the case...

: If you say so...

: Well, thanks for trying to get it to him, anyway. I didn't see it on the table, so I think he found it. I'll see you later, Goon.

Whoops, missed a pic for the finish of that event. Oh well.

Our exam comes and goes without much fuss. Usually in your last year, you'd be quite worried about exams but Shira Oka doesn't fuss too much about realism. Kind of hurts it as a Tokimeki-like but I guess it's trying to be its own thing.

: Sure, what's up?

: Well, last night I called Kazuki on the phone to see when he was coming back to school, right? And he says he's still sick and he doesn't know!

: Oh, wow, he's still not well?

: That's what he said! I really miss him, Goon.

: How long has it been since he left, anyway?

: Over a week now.

: Well, they can be.

: I think Naoko would've told us, if it was something that serious.

: No way, she wouldn't want anyone else to worry! Besides...

: Hmm?

: Well, he was talking about how he's glad he's sick and all.

: Well, Naoko said she thinks this all might be good for him.

: Huh? Why?

: She thinks a little rest might give him time to really think about himself.

: Oh, I see... It still seems a little weird to me...

: I guess we'll have to wait and see.

: I think maybe he's not really sick.

: Huh? You think he's faking it?

: It's possible. Maybe he's just avoiding coming back to school.

: No, I don't think so, he really sounded pretty sick.

: If you say so.

: Hey Goon, I'm going to visit him this coming Saturday. You wanna come? Of course you do! Yay! I'm sure he'll be really glad to see us. Teehee!

She's just like Naoko sometimes...

: I'll see you tomorrow then, Goon.

Man, they beat you over the head with this harder than I remember.

Yep. Much harder.

sup, hikki boy

: WOW, Kazuki! What's all this?

: Uh... what do you mean?

: I think she means all the robot parts.

: Oh! Oh... those. I can't really do much else, so I started making these robot toys I'd been designing in my notebook.

yeah, huh

: That IS lucky.

: There's tons of them...

: W-well, I've been too sick to leave the room much. So what else is there for me to do, besides try to perfect it?

: I see...

Game: Kazuki's skin looks pale and he is sweating, even though there is a slight chill in the air.

: Besides, I'm learning a lot. I- I think I might like to make toys for a living someday. If these toys become popular, it could really help me get my foot in the door.

What door?

: Cool! So what do they do?

: Oh, lots of things. This is a new project to me, so they do a lot of unexpected things. Some of those things turn out to be pretty good, even if I didn't plan it.

: Really?

: Well, I'm impressed!

: I can't spend as much time on them as I'd like. I have to do my schoolwork first, after all... Once school's over, I'll be able to put more work into them. Maybe even spend all summer improving them.

: Hmm...

: Well, they're toys, right?

: Yeah, children's toys, I was thinking.

: Maybe they should be able to interact with each other.

: Ooh, I like that idea a lot.

: I do, too. Thanks, Goon-kun.

: No problem.

: But you've been keeping up with your schoolwork, right?

: Yeah, of course.

: Are you sure you've been keeping up with school?

: Yeah, I just said I have been.

: Alright, just checking...

: No need to worry about me. Naoko has that job covered. She's really been pushing me to study lately, because school work is piling up. *sigh*

: So what are you going to do about that if you're still sick?

: Well, I think it's like this. Naoko contacted the school, and they said if I'm still sick they'll send somebody over to monitor me as I take my exams from home.

: Oh, I see.

: Aww, too bad! You get to miss out on the fun of taking the exams with everyone else!

: I guess that's true. I don't think being sick is worth it.

: But I don't really mind being home all the time.

: I wouldn't, either... if I got to work on my projects more freely!

: Hmm...

: Well your robots here are really neat.

: You think so?

: Can I take one of these home with me?

: Oh, sure!

: Yeah, I'm sure she would like that.

: I sure hope she does. I've put a ton of work into them.

: We can really tell. Which one is for her?

: Yeah, show me and I'll give it to her at school tomorrow.

: Sure, how about... this one, please?

Game: Kazuki hands one of the robots to Suzu.

: What does it do?

: Well, this one can be programmed by buttons in the back to walk a path you tell it, by simple directions. And it can carry small items, too, so it can deliver things.

: Wow! Cool!

: I'm sure she'll like it.

: And you can keep this one, Suzu.

Game: He offers another one to Suzu.

: This one has a simple speech box in it and talks at set time intervals.

: I hope its voice sounds like yours, Kazuki.

Something feels off about this but I don't know enough about the history of robot speech to say what.

: That still sounds interesting...

: Well... thanks for visiting me, guys. But I'm a little tired and I think I'll take a nap now. See you next time, okay?

: Certainly. You get better, Kazuki. Bye-bye!

Well, at least he's happy.

: Oh, hey, Kiku.

: Kazuki sent Suzu to give me a present the other day.

: The robot, right?

: Yes, that was the one.

: Oh, sure. I'll tell him the next time I see him.

: Thank you, Lorde-san.

Event's not actually over just yet.

: Is this the right number?

Game: Kiku shows you a small slip of paper with a phone number written on it in Suzu's handwriting.

: Oh, yeah. Sure is.

Figured it'd be best not to poo poo talk him here.

: Well, he may have been sleeping.

: That is true, but Naoko could have gotten it.

: Hmm, I don't know then.

: Oh well, then. There is just one thing I still do not understand, however.

: He just wanted to be nice to you.

: I see.

: He really likes you.

: He does.

Oh drat, we're playing wing man now?

: Yeah, as far as I know.

: Oh... But he has hardly ever said more than a few words to me.

: I know. He's shy, I guess.

: Oh, I see. Well, there is no reason he should feel shy around me. Please tell him that for me. I must be going now.

Well, my job here is done.

Huh, wonder who that is...

: Hello?

: Oh, Kazuki! How are you?

: I- I'm okay, I suppose.

: Yeah, she wanted me to thank you for the gift.

: Oh, really? Great!

Game: For a moment, he sounds almost as if he is well again. Then it goes back to the dull monotone you have grown accustomed to lately.

: I- I mean, I'm glad she liked it.

: Are you coming back to school soon?

: I don't know. I'm not getting any better. Then again, I'm not getting any worse, either. The doctor's not sure what I have exactly, but he doesn't think it's contagious. I just feel tired and miserable all the time...

: I see...

: I just got off the phone with Suzu...

: Really? What did she have to say?

Ah, here's probably some of Suzu's ending blending in.

: What do you mean, weird?

: She kept rambling about pointless stuff. And saying things that made no sense.

: I see...

: And when I told her she made no sense, she started gushing about how much she misses me.

Huh, maybe not. I know I did Suzu's route last time but I've already forgotten what killer robot Suzu was like.

: She's just worried about you, that's all.

: I guess...

: She really cares about you, you know.

: Yeah, I guess you're right.

: Sure, if you want to.

: Just talk and catch up.

We'd have to ask Satsuko for the time machine.

: I'll think about it. Thanks for the advice, Goon-kun. Well, I just wanted to let you know I was still alive, hehe. I better get going though. I still have some more homework to make up.

Well, ball's in his court now.

Game: She is in the process of emptying it out completely, including all his textbooks, notebooks, and personal belongings.

: Hey Naoko, what are you doing?

: Really? Why?

: Well... the doctor came by again last night to check on him. Whatever's wrong with him isn't getting better, and the school decided it might be best if he stayed home for the rest of the semester.

: Oh, man... is he going to be okay?

: I think so. He doesn't need to be hospitalized or anything, but he seems to be feeling pretty awful.

: So what's he going to do about school?

: That's why I'm taking his books home. The school is sending a private tutor to teach him. Oh, Goon. Be a dear and help me carry some of his books, would you?

Game: She dumps a load of books into your arms before you can respond.

: Sure, no problem...

: He's never been this sick before, even when we were traveling. I'm really worried about him.

That ain't my spelling mistake on travelling.

: Well, he's been a bit torn up over what happened at the sports festival.

: Oh... you mean that thing Hiroshi did?

: Yeah, that.

: So are you implying...?

: He might be trying to avoid coming back to school.

: Wow... I didn't even think of that.

: And the longer he puts it off, the worse it'll become.

: Yes... that's true, too. I'll be sure to talk to him about it.

Man, I think Suzu nearly figured it out before Naoko.

: You were? Why?

: I wanted to ask you about that robot Kazuki gave me.

: What about it?

: Well, as you probably know, my parents own Matsumoto Heavy Industries...

: I see... and?

: Well, they saw the robot toy Kazuki made for me. They would like to contact him to see if he would be willing to sell the plans.

: Sell the plans?

: Oh wow, I'm sure he would be thrilled to hear that.

Guess we're his manager now.

: Oh... about that.

???

: Yeah?

: I seem to have lost his phone number. Could you give it to me again?

: Sure, of course.

Game: You quickly scribble down the number and hand it to her.

: Thank you.

: No problem.

: Oh... Lorde-san? It may be rude of me to ask but...

: Well... he's been acting a little weird. But besides that, I'm unsure.

: But what is wrong with him, medically?

: No one really knows yet, not even the doctor who has been treating him.

I'd take odds on whether MHI is up to something shady or not but I wanted to hit that in this update.

I wonder who that could be.

: Hello?

: Whoa, haven't heard you sound this excited in a long time. What's up?

: It's too good to tell you over the phone. You've gotta come over right now, okay? It'll be worth it, I promise!

Game: He hangs up before you can respond.

: It must be important...

: Er-

: Never mind, it's not important.

: Wow, really? Doing what?

: I'll be designing robots and helping to improve the designs of existing robots!

: That sounds great!

: I've dreamed of having a job like this my whole life.

: And you look like you're not sick anymore, on top of that.

: Oh... but I... still can't go back to school, though.

: Huh? Why not?

: ...I just can't, okay? It's complicated.

: ...

: Kazuki? I know you hate getting teased all the time, but you can't hide in your room forever...

: ...

: I know it's frustrating, but you'll need to find some way to deal with it.

Where's my third option to pick fights with Aya/Hiroshi?

: Just keep your head help up, and eventually they'll respect you for it.

: I don't see what good that would do...

: When they see they can't hurt you with their words, then they'll give up trying.

: You sure about that?

: I'm sure. When it's clear that someone respects themselves, other people begin to respect that person too.

: If you say so.

: And nobody ever accomplished anything by just giving up.

: Yeah... I can definitely agree with that.

: So isn't skipping school, like what you're thinking of doing, a form of giving up?

: *sigh* Yes, I suppose you're right.

Well, we just killed his mood. Wonder if he regrets calling us now.

: We need to talk.

: Huh?

: Kazuki already signed that contract with MHI, did he not...? I certainly hope he did not.

: Yeah, I think he did.

: Oh... well.

Oh, I thought this drop came later. Forgot it came this soon.

Game: Kiku takes a deep, almost hesitant breath.

: ...wholesome.

: "Wholesome"? What does that mean?

: I think they are planning to use it for purposes... other than what he originally intended.

: ...Like what?

: I do not know...

Well, they did make killer robots before. But shouldn't they already have better tech in this field...?

: What? Why would you think that?

It'd be nice if Goon remembered that though.

: I believe they have taken to making weapons lately. Mind you, this is not what they did when I was a child, to the best of my knowledge.

: I see.

: Kazuki would not approve of that, would he? I do not think they told him.

: Oh...

: We?

: If we do not do anything now, they just might continue with this project.

Wow, those bottom two options are awful.

: No way we can let him do that.

: Excellent. That is what I hoped you would say! I do not think we have much time. They plan to take it into production right away.

: Oh, no...

: So you will need to work quickly and convince him about their intentions somehow.

: That shouldn't be too hard. Then what?

: That WILL be hard, won't it?

: ...Unfortunately, yes. I will try to help all I can, but I am not sure how much I can do.

: Okay.

: That is partially my fault, I suppose...

: I'll go talk to him.

Well, here we go. Real story time.

: H...hello.

Game: Kazuki's voice greets you quietly, followed by an awkward pause.

: Kazuki? Is that you?

: You have reached Ogawa Kazuki's telephone. I am, however, too busy to answer. If you would kindly leave your name and phone number, I will return your call as soon as I can. Thank you.

Game: You wait for the beep, but before you can leave him a message, you hear the dial tone from the other end of the phone.

: Ah?

Game: You hang up the phone.

Odd...

Goon gives up for the day and tries again a week later.

: H...hello.

Game: Once again, Kazuki's timid voice greets you over the phone, in the exact same tone and pitch.

: *sigh*

It's the answering machine again...

: You have reached Ogawa Kazuki's telephone. I am, however, too busy to answer. If you would kindly leave your name and phone number, I will return your call as soon as I can. Thank you.

Game: Like before, the phone hangs up without giving you a chance to record a message.

Not again!

Game: Determined, you dial again.

: H...hello.

Odd...

: You have reached Ogawa Kazuki's telephone. I am, however, too busy to answer. If you would kindly leave your name and phone number, I will return your call as soon as I c-

What could it mean...?

: H...hello?

Game: Once more you try and once more you hear that now ominous uncertain answer.

: You have reached Ogawa Kazuki's telephone. I am, however, too busy to answer. If you would kindly leave your name and phone number, I will retu-

Game: The phone disconnects mid-message.

How strange...

Game: Every subsequent call to his cell phone rings endlessly. You are not even given the option of leaving him a message.

Goon waits until Sunday to try calling again.

Game: Picking up the phone, you dial it once again.

I hope he picks up.

: H...hello?

Game: You nearly sigh, hearing this familiar message again. As you are about to hang up, though, he speaks again.

Game: His voice is barely a whisper.

: Kazuki? Are you really there?

: ...Yes?

Game: He sounds almost scared, speaking quietly into the receiver.

: What is it?

: Did Kiku call you?

: Maybe... I can't be totally sure...why?

: Look, Kazuki, I don't know how to tell you this, but MHI plans to misuse your plans for the robots.

: Oh...

Game: There is a pregnant pause and he sighs.

: What do you mean by that?

Game: He takes a deep breath and pauses, as if he is unsure of what to say.

: They took my phone...

: So how are we talking now?

Game: He goes silent for a moment.

: ...The guard is asleep... I grabbed it from the table next to him, haha. This is... terrible, though, just plain terrible...

: What can we do, Kazuki? There's got to be something.

: Help me. Please, Goon-kun, you have to help!

: Are you okay?

: I've got to find a way to back out of the contract. There just has to be a way. Thanks for calling me! I'll call back soon, promise. As long as I can keep a hold of this phone, anyway. Oops, gotta go!

Well, here we go. Guess we are fighting MHI this time around.

We get another call on Wednesday.

: Hello?

: Goon-kun? Could you come over right now? I need to see you in person. Please.

: Come over WHERE?

: You know, where they're keeping me... Gotta go, bye.

Game: He hangs up suddenly, unlike he usually does, and leaves you to the sound of the dial tone.

: He sounded pretty worried. I guess I should go and see what I can do.

Game: You try the door handle, but it is locked.

*sigh* Of course. I should've thought of a plan before coming here. How am I ever going to get in?

Game: To your surprise, you hear a noise from the other side. You dive into the bushes, just as an agent in a trenchcoat comes rushing out and drives off in a dark car.

Hey, there's my chance!

Game: You sneak through the door, just as it is about to close.

Now what...?

Game: You wander down the hall somewhat aimlessly, not sure where Kazuki is being kept.

goon come on

: Kazuki! Where am I...? Are you okay?

: I guess so... looks like they caught up and put you in here with me. Goon-kun, they won't let me leave! Naoko must be worried sick. I thought you'd be worried sick, too...

They must've told her some kind of cover story so that she wouldn't worry.

: And I already signed the contract, which they say contains terms which allow them to keep me here indefinitely.

what

Why would you sign that?

: Could there be a loophole somewhere?

I mean, yes but why would you sign it?

: Detaining someone against their will indefinitely sounds illegal. But it hardly matters now. They'll probably start cranking out those evil robots before we can do anything to stop them.

: Geez, there's gotta be something we can do...

: I don't know, Goon-kun... I've spent countless hours thinking about this, and still come up blank. My work was supposed to be helpful and good, but they've turned it into something evil and twisted!

: Yeah...

: I just can't believe they'd do this. They should've told me what they had planned... It's so cruel of them!

: I'm sorry, Kazuki.

: Well... there's always one thing.

: And what would that be?

: Maybe we could take back their copy of the contract.

Game: Kazuki is silent for a moment as he considers the possibilties.

: Hmm, yeah... if we destroy their copy, it could be like we never signed it in the first place! And of course, we should destroy all the plans I worked on, too. That way they can't continue the work without me.

: It probably is, but they didn't tell you everything before you signed it...

: I see... yes, I think you're right. So what should we do now?

: I'm not sure, but we'll have to figure it out soon...

: Suzu!

Game: He lights up as a plan begins to form in his mind.

: Yeah, she could probably think of something. She's pretty brilliant.

: Let's find a way to get out of here, and go talk to her...

Game: Rummaging through the boxes, Kazuki produces a long piece of metal.

: Well, I've been wanting to use this, but I was afraid to try in fear I'd get caught. Let's go for it.

Game: Kazuki picks the lock. It snaps open with a satisfying click.

Oh drat, he can lockpick?

Game: You and Kazuki run, trying to find an exit.

: Do you hear something?

: Oh, no...

Game: The sound of the workers in the area are more audible the further you go.

: Just stick by me, and hopefully-

MHI Worker: Stop!

whoops

: What now?

: Maybe this is a sign I shouldn't leave yet. I just can't. Not yet. They'll do something terrible if I do. I just know it.

: Well...

: ...I suppose...

: I'm too short to reach, but if you can get up there, it might lead out... You should try it the next time the guards leave.

Game: You nod in understanding. Once night falls, you sneak out through the grate and run. Guards chase you, and your heart pounds as you frantically make your way toward the exit. The sounds of their voices echo through the halls. But finally...

Game: Catching your breath, you wait for just a moment... and hear a voice behind you.

???: Wait! You, you beautiful young miss!

No, I'm not sure why this guy gets a portrait.

: Er...

Game: You look around for the woman he is addressing, but there is no one else nearby.

???: Oh...well this is embarrassing. I thought you were a gorgeous young woman! Your hair color is just the shade I like on a pretty girl.

...Is this guy alright?

Apparently this is a Star Wars reference although I've never seen any of the movies myself.

Ackbar: This is an authorized area, and you're not authorized like ME.

He doesn't seem to realize I just escaped... I should use this to my advantage.

: Sorry, sir... I must have wandered here by mistake.

Ackbar: Get on out of here, kid! And don't come back! Consider this your official warning. Next time, I'll have to take you in for questioning. I can't overlook repeat offenders. After all, you're just some stupid high school boy. It's not like you're a pretty lady...

Does this guy have rocks in his head or something?

Ackbar: So get!

: I'm going, I'm going...

Well, I hate this guy already.

Oh well, we'll figure something out next time.

Let the fools who stand before us be destroyed by the power you and I possess.
Wait, Ackbar and he mistook Goon for a girl - is that the worst "trap" joke I've ever loving seen?

Also I'm glad I was wrong about the bomb at least.
