Hello Thread, I am here with a extremely limited time Very Cool Gift that you must act on ASAP!

What is it? I am talking of course about the tag to end all tags, the terror of the NRA.... various animals. But not just various animals, but animals with attitude.

If you want it, you have to do three things. If you gently caress up on any of those things I will laugh at you!

1. Quote this post
2. Write a post under that quote about what you would do with an Army of Aggressive Animals
3. Do this within 24 hours of this post!

If you do all three of these things, the tag will find a new home under your avatar (or username, if you are a filthy poor).

Why 24 hours? Because I am Extremely Busy and I don't feel like stalking the thread for eons to see who wants the tag! So get it now! But don't fret, if you lose out on this exclusive offer, I'll still give it out randomly because it's cool and it deserves to be seen by all.

I’d take them to the movies
I’d take them to the beach
I’d take them to a place inside that is so hard to reach

I was surprised by that Vietnam poll. I looked around at other polls and found this one about the Iraq war and the use of U.S. military force in general: http://www.pewresearch.org/2006/02/21/youth-and-war/

Young people are consistently more hawkish than older people across generations. Very interesting.

I guess people need to see military interventionism fail before they start to get it. Millenials were the biggest supporters of the Iraq war prior to the war and in 2003. By 2004 that was no longer the case.

Didn't Nixon get one of the biggest landslide victories in U.S. history after loving the dog in Vietnam for four years? AFTER the release of the Pentagon Papers? I watched Ken Burns' doc recently, that's one thing that stood out to me. Another was that the majority opinion viewed Kent State as justified.

I'm not confident in my interpretation of the data at all. Like I said it was surprising to me. But yeah, Nixon did get a huge landslide. I think that was due to the unpopularity of the counterculture. That's how it's presented in Nixonland, which I thought was a good book. Nixon ran hard against hippies, which was a good strategy because Americans widely hated hippies and the counterculture in general. The reaction to Kent State was an example of that.

On race relations and Vietnam, Nixon constantly talked out of both sides of his mouth, acting like he knew better than anyone how to stop the race riots and bring about a successful conclusion to the war, but he doesn't appear to have had a real plan for either issue. I mean, he bombed Cambodia, but it didn't help.

I taught English in Korea. I had an 8-year-old student refuse to read when it was her turn because the illustration showed a black girl. I took her points off the board so she wouldn't get stickers that day (which could be traded for toys when you earned enough) and skipped her. The boy next to her read without any objection.

In a later lesson, that girl stole stickers from my basket when I left the room to get something. The other kids ratted her out the second I came back in.
