Me hackingk:

(soundtrack) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2JMMy5p_FQ (soundtrack

quote:

My favorite weapon type is Axe so I keep that in miscellaneous, putting my only two never-want-to-max Strength skills as major/minors. I select the two speed skills because I never use them intentionally and therefore I get no surprise levels from them -- plus Caius can train them both to high levels which makes bringing Speed up to 100 easy to do once I have other stuff out of the way. I make Alchemy my major skill as that saves a bit of money and time when making potions and making up for the unwanted major level ups, and Security is, as you may have guessed, my 100-first skill, so of course it goes into major/minor.

Intelligence is a hard attribute to deal with -- I’ll certainly want Enchant, Alchemy, Security and eventually Conjuration at 100, but I won’t want to have to deal with gaining levels while training with Quorwynn (Enchant) so that can’t go in the major/minor category. The Conjuration master trainer is only available to high ranking Temple members, so it’s not a good choice for a major/minor for that reason as you’ll only have access to a good trainer for it late in your training stages anyway -- if at all.

The sticking point is often Agility as I love to use light armor, so it may be a good idea to get two agility skills and only one speed skill instead -- Todwendy and Hecerinde both reside in Balmora and both provide really good access to agility skills, and it’s only that Todwendy can train Sneak to 80 or so that allows me to get away with only one agility skill in the lineup anyway.

Speechcraft is an important one, but putting it in the majors would force too many non-Security levels early on, so I keep it in the minors. Still, I do want an level-up-via-Personality skill in there if I’m raising Personality/Speechcraft, so Mercantile does the trick -- Illusion, as a magical skill, is a utility item and I wouldn’t want to limit my access to that by making it a major/minor (due to the priority stamp that Security gets).

I put the skills of that are most likely to level up on their own in Minor since this helps limit the number of patch-jobs I have to do while training.

---------------------------------------------------------------
2.2 - Training Plan with Explanatory Notes
---------------------------------------------------------------

Same character as above. This should be about right, I’m doing this from memory. When stats have changed from the last level they’re in bold. When I depart from my target skill I try to provide notes as to why. I won’t try to follow the plan exactly apart from keeping my eyes on the Security prize, which means always doing something about Intelligence unless there’s some other roadblock that needs removing, like the lack of a good trainer.

Target skill = Security (Int)
Survival skills = Axe, Conjuration, Mysticism, Alteration

Lvl 1: St40 Int50 Wil50 Agil30 Spd35 End30 Per40 Luk50
Sneak* 15>25, Medium Armor 5<15
--Note: This is to get all stats at 35 to ease
joining guilds. Plus, it’s cheap.

Lvl 2: St40 Int50 Wil50 Agil35 Spd35 End35 Per40 Luk51
Security* 20>30, Axe 5>15

Lvl 3: St45 Int55 Wil55 Agil35 Spd35 End35 Per40 Luk52
Security* 30>40, Axe 15>25
--Note: There isn’t a Balmora trainer who can take you
from 40 to 50 aside from Hecerinde, who requires
a high rank in the Thieves’ Guild. So Security
can’t be trained until I get that rank, and my
Agility is presently too low to do so.

Lvl 4: St50 Int60 Wil55 Agil35 Spd35 End35 Per40 Luk53
Light Armor 10>20, Mysticism* 15>25

of my survival skills covered, and am ready to get
down to business.

Lv 15: St70 Int95 Wil65 Agil50 Spd35 End35 Per50 Luk64
Alchemy* 30>39, Acrobatics* 10>11, Long Blade 15>25
--Note: This is that tricky 95 to 99 jump I
mentioned at the end of section 1.4.1.

Lv 16: St75 Int99 Wil65 Agil50 Spd35 End35 Per50 Luk65
Acrobatics* 11>21

Lv 17: St80 In100 Wil65 Agil50 Spd35 End35 Per50 Luk66

Acrobatics* 21>30, Alchemy* 39>40, Long Blade 15>16,
Light Armor 30>40
--Note: Security is maxed. Next, I’ll focus on Axe.
Also, at this point I can pump any of my Int based
skills in the misc category as I please. Until
Alchemy is at 100, I will use it to prompt levels
in order to get at as many useful misc skills as
I can while the gettin’s good -- about six more
freebie levels of upping three skills at once,
one of which will always be Alchemy. Which is why
I “leveled” alchemy back to a multiple of five at
this level.

3 - Appendixes
=====================================

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.1 - Skills by Type
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The number in parenthesis is the number of guilds that considers that skill important for ranking its members. Therefore, it’s a sort of gauge of how useful these skills are to people other than yourself -- something to consider on occasion if you’re interested in advancing in the guilds. Note that this data was taken from a heavily modded version of Morrowind resulting from Morrowind Merged Mega Mod pack, but that most of this data is totally relevant to the vanilla game as well. There’s one extra thieves’ type guild with the MMMM -- but you’ll find that many thief skills aren’t as desirable as you’d imagine.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.2 - Skills by Guild
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Numbers that follow in parenthesis are again frequency numbers relating to how many guilds want each skill so that you don’t have to look that data up above. Attributes receive a similar treatment. The “Investigators” guild is the one added by the MMMM and won’t be on vanilla Morrowind games, even if you have both expansions installed. Again, the Investigators guild is a fan written mod add-on, but, since I didn’t collect data for the Morag Tong, which is a theify assassins guild, I don’t think the data is all that bad, and it’s still interesting to glance through in this format. For me, anyway…

Security(2) Destructn(1)
Alchemy(2) Enchant(2)
Total: 14 Total: 10

It looks like the Imperial Cult will take anyone while the Mage’s Guild is rather selective. But the skill requirements don’t usually make it hard to get in -- if you can’t get into a guild the likely problem is that you don’t have enough of their favored stat -- the first stat listed being more important to any given guild than the second one. Note that Intelligence is the favorite attribute of three different guilds. Coupled with the importance of Intelligence based skills in just getting by, there shouldn’t be a lot of debate as to what, in general, is the most important attribute in Morrowind.

I don't really think there's much "gaming", it's just that AFAIK there is no total caps on skills in TES games, so given enough time you can just max out all of them
