I kinda want her to be badass in the end... She's the only one who's not insanely overpowered, AND she's the only one who really has beef with the main baddie. Come oooooon, let her take down the beautiful sword wizard

Was he? Since the whole Shrine protection business seems to be generational it isn't a wrong assumption that eventually she'll have an heir to pass down her family's techniques to, but she needs to survive to get to that point. It isn't like he was making a pass at her with it.

Another way of approaching it I think would've been to remark how if the techniques were up until now, meant for males with a taller build; then by adjusting those ancestral and ancient techniques to also work for women in the clan, would be a huge achievement she can pass down, and further strengthen their fighting power if both girls and boys in the clan can fight at their greatest potential each.

I think there's an interesting implication there, and why she seemed to set on vengeance for her brother, she was probably taught how to fight by her brother against the wishes of her family; it would make sense if that's why her techniques are ill suited to her. That the intended heir is meant to be the male child seems like an obvious implication.

Well, that went as badly as expected

On the plus side: confirmation that arrow dude was just messing around. Never mind bro, you're the best again.
I'm seriously expecting shrine maiden girl tm to take down the big bad now. An ending in the vein of "someone else did all the work for you, but your ***RESOLVE*** inspired him" would be a rather nasty insult at this point. Here's hope we don't get that.

Better start doing more poo poo, hookblade dude, what is even your deal, seriously

Considering all the mighty, hideous things Lin could have potentially been, a Lupin-esque master thief seems relatively small-scale and benign. Guess that probably means he'll stay on as the gang's irritating wild-card frenemy rather than usurping Ma as the main villain.

Actually, holy poo poo, I just realised that Lin's three old acquaintances are basically the rest of the Lupin Gang. You've got Shou the grizzled marksman, Sha the master swordsman with the peculiar code of honour, and Xing the deadly femme fatale with a messy romantic history with Lin. Shang, Dan, and Juan have no goddamn idea what they've let themselves in for.

So half the group knew that he's a master thief, but none suspected he might be in this to steal the most valuable sword in the world? I guess they were too busy loving with Scruffy to really think about it.

Maybe they were thinking it couldn't have been that obvious.

Well wait, actually it wouldn't matter for the Demon and the Screaming Phoenix Killer, they want what they want either way, and maybe the archer guy doesn't mind being in cool heists.

Just curious but can anyone tell what the words are in the one song that always plays toward the end of the episode when the good guys always start beating up the bad guys? I can't tell if its a mix of languages but I think I hear some English words.

I think it's pretty obvious this is all one giant Xanatos gambit. Lin knew they would get captured and deliberately left half the party behind knowing they would follow behind on foot and arrive in time to free Shang and Dan Fei.

There is something for sure being planned in which Shang is absolutely is going to play a critical part in Kyuubei Gandalf's plans. He was very specific that Shang must be there at the end. And I don't think it was just so the Shine Maiden wouldn't die; he needs both of them, Dan Fei probably to unlock the sword and put it together, but why Shang?

The only thing I'm sure of is because he must have Shang's personality pegged to a T, and seems to 100% know how Shang acts on behalf of others, and this is important for some reason.

Really feels like a waste to have him die so soon. I was looking forward to seeing him fight Shang or doing some cool stuff. I kind of feel like the other two are guaranteed to die now as well which is a bummer, I wasn't expecting the show to take this direction.

How many episodes is this show suppose to be?

ha ha, dang. for the first half of the show, they weren't gathering allies for a heist. instead, they were gathering up enemies for shang to fight. i guess that explains why mr. bones' side had so few people.

This show is so good. It isn't too complex and kinda relies on some stuff kept secret until the reveal but I'm looking forward to each episode so much.

Ahaha so Shang is basically Kenshin?

Mr.Bones has a huge hard on for swords and what they represent. Then comes along Shang, thats been using something more akin to a steel club than a blade, and whose sole 1v1 so far ended up with him breaking the dudes swords with said steel club. I dont know if its because he purposely handicaps himself, or if he's running the counter ideology to Mr. Bone's.

Also Shang's title is Rèn Wú Fēng which translates to "Edgeless Blade" (His title has been available on promotional material before the series even started :v:). He's also one of two characters that have yet to have their soliloquies recited so hopefully he gets one and it owns.

It's a blunt wooden sword. By 'dreadful', Lin means 'crappy'.

The implication I'm pretty sure is that people just think he's an average swordsman with flashes of brilliance (with a couple of people suspecting otherwise due to the fact he traveled alone across the Demon Land), when in fact he's having to put most of his effort into compensating for the awful sword and if he bothered to pick up a real blade he'd be amazing. I don't think we've been told why he carries it though unless it was in side material?

There is much that remains mysterious about Shang, so I'm assuming they're saving it for some big finale reveal. Perhaps he's some benign, amnesiac god?
