Before the beginning of great brilliance, there must be chaos.
When I got the specialty weapons on my run, I didn't read that the Bolt Caster only had one shot before reloading. I only used it for a few missions before shelving it, mostly for the 15% aim bonus on new recruits.

I don't actually have a Gunslinger sniper, so the Shadowkeeper just sits on my primary sniper, who at least has Lightning Hands.

The Axes went to my primary Ranger, and have never left her back unless she was healing up. If I had to guess, I'd say around 10 of her 100+ kills so far have been from the free throw ability of the axe.

I have a deeply ingrained hatred for the Viper King, due to how badly my first interaction went with it.

I was at around the same tech level as Jade, with the 5 man group. The VK's first move was of course to constrict Bradford, and it KNOCKED HIM UNCONSCIOUS! My medic specialist was out of range to try and revive him, so I moved it up, and then on its reaction turn, the VK used it's frost breath to freeze my medic. I had to fight the VK on my first run with 3 people. Oh, and the medic was the one who had the frost bomb in her inventory.

Funny enough, I was actually alerted to the VK's second appearance a few missions later, when the relay I was defending came under fire by what sounded like a Bolt Caster weapon. It confused me for a moment, and then the blue bastard appeared out of the fog the next turn.

I had a glitch the first time I fought the Berserker Queen.
She appeared in a VIP capture mission, accompanied by two Mutons. In the reveal animation, when she roars at you, she swings her fists to her sides. This, for some reason, hit the two Mutons accompanying her, stunning them both. The Mutons then proceeded to do nothing for the remainder of the map.

In my first playthrough, I encountered this guy before I had actually killed the Berserker Queen. I had a bit of a panic attack thinking that I had permanently missed my chance at killing the Queen, but she returned once I had killed the Archon King.

I've had a nice happy spot in my heart for Psi Operatives ever since I first used Void Rift.

I used it on a pod of 3 Sectoids, knocking them all down to 2-3 health. Then, the insanity check occurred, and MIND CONTROLLED ALL 3 OF THEM!

I've never had a mind control from Rift result since...

I'm going to be the odd person out, but during my play through, I didn't get the UFO doing its victory lap around the world. Instead, it literally spawned on top of me as I was taking off from the HQ. Just popped into existence. It was sort of funny to watch it sit there for the 2 seconds it takes for the takeoff and landing animation to occur, especially since the Avenger didn't actually move anywhere.

Mighty fine evasive maneuvers, Shen...

Just one thing to note about the Icarus Jump. It breaks concealment if you use it, even if there are no enemies able to see you.

Yeah, I learned this the hard way during a mission, and had to do it without the initial concealment.

Don't say I didn't warn you about the Icarus Jump thing...
Oh well, it means that I was mentioned in the LP. Cue celebration.

I personally think that the insta-kill attribute of the Skullminning ability outweighs the potential damage you take from the shock, especially if you use it on a high priority advent target, like a lancer or shieldbearer.
It's been a while, but I do believe that you can still insta-kill a shieldbearer even after they have put up their shield, which of course removes the shields once they are dead.

Your discussion on the Commander being the Bureau's Etherial was essentially part of the plot of Speedball's XCOM1 SSLP that was done last year. (If you haven't done so, go read it. It's on the LP Archive)

It was nice to see the ending of the game. At that one point after your units run to the portal, where it flashed to the game field, my game ALWAYS freezes. I've attempted that mission on 3 separate occasions, and I've never been able to actually beat the game because of that bug...
