Well, they have to make Tygan stand out in some fashion. They just opted to use the option that violates at least 100 health codes in the process.

I cant remember if it was guava or someone in the stream last night that pointed out how much they look like silencers too. I think they put forth the idea that maybe they were intended to be silencers and have some sort of impact on the concealment mechanics but got dropped for some reason. It seems like a pretty plausible idea. I may have to tweet Jake about it.
If that was the original idea for that weapon mod, my best guess as to why it got dropped is that slapping a silencer on a gatling gun would be too silly, even for X-COM.

Given your past experiences, I'm going to guess the context is: an enemy shows up and three of your units right next to it should have line of sight on it...but for some reason they do not, and yet your sniper 500 feet away can see it clearly, but has a less than 30% shot on the enemy.

Scribbleykins posted:

Alien Rulers, at last. Best of luck dealing with their brand of :xcom:, Jade.

My experience with the Rulers has been mixed. For one, we got off to a rough start. It turns out that if you are in the middle of a playthrough when you download the DLC and you, unthinkingly, apply that DLC to your game without knowing what this entails, there is exactly zero Vahlen missions to coach you into the concept. Alien rulers just show up, out of nowhere, to wreck your day, on some mission and you have no idea what even oh god is this a joke why does it have so many hit points and wait did it just move again oh shi-. Needless to say, an Alien Ruler showing up right as another enemy pod has activated can be very, very bad and can lead to a quick and demoralizing loss depending on where you are in the game and what personnel you've brought with you.
That...that is just plain badly implemented content. Holy loving poo poo. :stare:

You're right, the tier 3 spark weapon fires some kind of... science foam? at targets. It certainly isn't the coherent plasma beams that most of the other weapons fire.
From my perspective, it's like the cannon wants to be some kind of railgun mixed with a shotgun's spread; the cannon has the strength and stopping power of a railgun, but discharges the spent plasma in a shotgun-like manner (i.e., the weird mist spray after the cannon fires). I'm just going to chalk it up to "Lily Shen Weapon Design" weirdness.

So, Ciaphas has executed an Archon and Empanada has now executed an Archon.

Why has Firaxis been so secretive about the voice actor for Julian, he should have been in the credits unless the VA did it anonymously intentionally.
More than likely, Julian is voiced by an union voice actor taking a non-union job, so sometimes they either get credited with a pseudonym or don't get credited at all on official statements.

The rules, as it seems to be laid out, are that as long as you don't use whatever name you signed up with at the union, you can take a voice acting gig and still get paid like everyone else. Otherwise, you're limited to union roles and only union roles. An example from another game would be the character of Virion in Fire Emblem: Awakening. His English voice actor is the only one in the cast not credited, so whoever voiced Virion was likely a union voice actor taking a role off the books so as not to get into trouble with his union. Now, the recently released mobile game Fire Emblem Heroes does give Virion an actor credit, Taylor Henry. But, right now it is unclear if that is the same voice actor from Awakening or if it is someone new doing their best to recreate the original voice actor's performance.

This run just does not want you to benefit from people with a boosted hacking stat. Jesus Christ, Jade.

Also, clearly Bradford was too busy being drunk or something and left a pre-recorded message to cover for his rear end. The problem is that he left control of the message in Julian's hands, and we all know how Julian rolls.

Does Emphenada's gun have a stock and a magazine? That's pretty much the only thing I think anyone hasn't covered, that by getting 'killed' and getting back up, he somehow picked up a copy of his mods from his gun.
Empanada only had a repeater, as he executed an Archon back in Operation Unfortunate Granola.

So either the game spawned extra loot for Jade out of thin air, or Talow picked up the magazine and stock with the dropped loot but the game didn't acknowledge he did until the post-mission rundown.
