I've skipped the weddings of two cousins. One because I couldn't afford to go, and the other because I don't really talk to that side of the family or like them much. So make up an excuse if you like the friend but don't want to go, and just don't go if you don't care that much for the friend anyways.

It's always better to just watch the local paper and go to weddings of people you don't know. You still get free drinks, and there's no hard feelings when you don't bring a gift.
