Oh my god. Oh my god.

Loves of Hercules. The Hydra fight. That obviously painted cow masquerading as a bull. The ridiculous amazon headgear. Some random dude just fondling and harassing women during the "trial" before being unveiled as Hercules' sidekick. Hercules' penchant for just lifting heavy things and walking around with them. The loving living trees with struts clearly propping them up so they don't fall over. The loving sasquatch fight out of nowhere at the end.

At some points I was laughing so hard it hurt. My girlfriend refused to believe the movie wasn't an intentional comedy.

E: also the season has been good / great / amazing so far.

MST3K: The Movie was my introduction to the series. Some friends had seen it at the local university's sci-fi movie night (this was in the mid 90s) and praised it to high heaven. When I bought a DVD drive, I also imported the US DVD and my brother and I laughed until we cried.

I still maintain MST3K: The Movie is amazing.

The Hobgoblins live stream was a ton of fun, it was great seeing Joel and the live gang reacting to a classic episode and get some inside baseball things, like Joel, Nate and Conor speculating on how they made puppets as bad as the ones in Hobgoblins. And then come to the conclusion that they're probably not even puppets, but just plushies. And they are.

It's funny how different the vibe is between the streams where Joel is or isn't present. When Joel's there it's more of a "oh haha look at that, I wonder how they did that" and talking about the inside baseball side of puppetry and movie making. When Joel's not there, Jonah, Baron, Hampton and Rebecca are just riffing on the movie constantly.

Both are very nice and cool.

E: "Ladies and gentlemen, Frederick Douglass!"

"Grady, this fall on NBC!"

God drat it's been too long since I saw Zombie Nightmare.

Yeah, I feel so bad for the guy. There was a period where my neck was so messed up (I had my monitor at a 45 degree angle to my right and stared at it for ~13 hours a day) that I had basically non-stop headaches for months until I finally went to a doctor, suspecting I had a tumor or something.

Just a few months of that was unbearable, now living your whole life like that... gently caress.

(then later I started getting migraines with actual honest to goodness auras and everything so fairly regular headaches are still a fun thing in my life)

That whole Club Scum (ie. someone's school cafeteria) segment is gold.

I rewatched the video where Joel, Emily and Emily's bots watch Hobgoblins and it's my favourite of their riff-along videos, largely because Hobgoblins is apparently Emily's favourite episode and she's just so god drat excited for everything and that energy carries on to the rest of the crowd.

The version of Manos I watched yesterday was some kind of hack job where some guy had spliced the MST3K host segments and silhouettes over the HD-restoration Ben Solo did a few years ago, and also added in (un-riffed) missing scenes towards the end. And holy loving poo poo. I was not prepared for essentially a 5 minute scene where the Master just beats the poo poo out of his wives.

I can't think of another experiment that honestly falls off the cliff like Manos does. The first half or so is hilarious with Torgo antics and funny bad movie stuff, but then it just gets loving depressing and grim and nasty, even before someone adds in the scenes Best Brains cut out for VERY GOOD REASONS.

Boy that was some poo poo. It's hard to remember in "the golden age of television" how loving DIRE these made for TV movies used to be.

Maybe the Syfy Channel is still keeping that mantle on, albeit with higher production values? But loving christ, Diamond Head was just boring, plodding nonsense. Good riffs and I love to see Emily on the streams because she's got such fun energy, and Baron Vaughn is also always great.
