Just got this in the PSN sale for some dumb reason. Is there no way to auto-fill the best line up in HUT? It gave me an assload of players to start.

There is a bit more strategy to it this year. You could fill your team with the highest OVR players, but you might not get any sweet synergies that way. Sometimes you want to use a couple "worse" players to activate synergies to make your stars more powerful.

I just got the game a month ago and have played a total of 3 drop-ins so far because pubbie bullshit infuriates me, but I use my PS4 for Plex all the time, and I work weird hours so I could be on at any given moment. I'd say best bet is between 7p-1a eastern, but since my machine is pretty much always on if I'm home, I'm ready to jump on whenever if people want to play Depending on what I'm doing work-wise that day, I might be home for the day by 2 pm or I might be out from 4-midnight. If it's a "get home at midnight" kinda day, but I don't have a "get up at 5 am" day following it, I'll usually stay up to play until 2-4 if anyone is on. I think Versus in this is the worst it has ever been. People don't even play the game. They charge their guy at you and then switch off of him so that the Hall of Fame computer can forecheck you. Offensively it's the same thing. You get the puck up ice on them and they switch off their dman and let him pin you to the boards. I don't know how people have fun not even playing the game but so it goes. Goals consist of the same cheese as ever with short side snipes and one-timers from impossible angles. Tldr: play OTP only, Versus is garbage.

Yep. The mechanics don't allow any kind of interesting or fun vs. game. They tried to make the game - especially skating - more realistic but now we have game where you play with incredibly stiff and clunky mechanics "the right way" or abuse the backward skating and auto dekes most of the game and end up hilariously unrealistic looking hockey.

Just picked up NHL 17. I noticed they changed how team sets use to reward you with gold packs.. how do you go about getting free packs from collecting sets now?

I haven't played the mode since the release of the game but don't you get legends from the sets now? You have to collect certain player cards - not all - plus some other cards and then you get your legend and I guess you can sell that for packs.

I pretty much didn't play a hockey game from NHL 96 till NHL 16. I've been playing EASHL for a bit now on NHL 17 and some guys just deke the poo poo out of goalies and I'm just like welp. How the gently caress do people do that?

The only fun way to play is with 5 or 6 people in club. The hard part is getting 5 people you like and aren't terrible. Versus is terrible because the ai is old and there's a lot of easily abused mechanics. I can only think of one similar abuse for club - and that's taken away if you play w goalies. This new patch/tuner has seriously hosed passing and player changing logic. Also I got a game misconduct and booted from the game on an interference call where the computer ran into me

EA will never be able to program real interference into their games. You can interfere all you wan't but sometimes when you just collide you get penalty.

I noticed after the tuner that I can get the puck back after getting it knocked away from me in close quarters instead of just teleporting to the other player's stick. This is incredible to me as a defenseman.
